It seems that every game is critisized in some way or another. So I wonder how you lot would make a Game. Tell us about the plot, the gameplay mechanics, FPS or Platformer, etc.
Mine would be a FPS, with an open world and lots to do, but I'm still thinking about the rest....

What would you get if you mashed together SimCity 4, Patrician 3, and Civilization? You'd get an epic-sweep game of city-building and trading throughout the history of mankind with a deep tech tree and lots of strategic options. You'd also get a game that, if you executed it properly, would be the only game I'd ever need. So it'd be the game I'd want to make if I were the type of person who could make games.

I've not heard of the Patrician games, but that does sound like the most awesome game ever. If only I could do graphics programming, I don't think I could make that just using Flash and AS3... :(

There are more like this, but they always seem to die within a few hours or at most a day, and there's no point being a Necromancer.

Mash up Dynasty Warriors with Dynasty Tactics, allowing you to pick the combat type for each battle, thrown into a new fantasy world with warring nations. You start a prince but after a few chapters asend to the thrown due to your fathers ill health (or a chapter if you poison him), in charge you need to manage just the armies still, and give public areas their build type, defensive/culture/horse breeding/agriculture/armory/offensive each changes something in particular.

Unite the land through diplomacy or conquer, then when you complete it it hard mode, you get a bonus afterwards with would be comparable to the blight in DA:O, you would have to dfend against that, so could be interesting. But will never happen.

-STRAIGHT, a game where you fight Transvestites from Transylvania.
-Cityscape, a city building game that would correct whatever Sim City 4 or Cities XL did wrong, and add some other stuff. The soundtrack will be "We Built This City" by Starship.
-Some real time tactical game, i.e. World in Conflict, set in a country in the Middle East in modern times.

Well, of course I thought about my own game at some point.

That would be an action RPG (closest I can think of to this would be Mass Effect), with one plot divided to be told from each of team members perspective. At the beginning of the game, you'll choose between two available heroes (with few more to unlock during the game), one would be an expert in guns, while other is a great swordsman, and you'll follow HIS point of view in the story. What do I mean? I mean, if both characters will have to split for some reason, you'll get to know what happened with your guy, and whatever interesting plot-important things he'll get to know, but you won't ever know what the other did... Unless you'll play as him. The ultimate goal, is to make an RPG where everyone in the team is equally important (I'm tired of Revan/The Exile/Commander Shepard/other great hero, and bunch of NPC twats who, yeah, have some personality and backstory, but they only serve for main character to resolve them for bonus EXP [sidequests], obligatory romance quest or one-shot ass saver as seen lately in ME2 [/rant]), have their own goal, their finished story has sense of it's own, while many mysteries you didn't learn about are waiting for you in other character's playthrough. The same with unlockable characters (many possibilities. Sniper, Brawler, Combat Medic etc.). They'll be available as soon as you'll pass certain point of the plot (but only as a 'Start new game as...' option), whose story may put some more light on the plot etc.

Well, that was just a main concept. I also thought about the plot of course (those character ideas are here for a reason :p), but it's too long already to start talking about it here, especially considering at least 5 different plot branches thanks to at least 5 characters.

Id make Searchbar: the game. It involves a tutorial of reading the help threads then using the search bar before creating a post.

But then i will get in a lawsuit and lose my staff to EA.

Mine would be AvP2 with epic graphics, and a motherfucking LONG campaign, and a working master server.

Yeah that would be good, but a good character customisation would be nice to. Like instead of having your character and just choosing costumes, have your characters face and background and how your character looks changes gameplay, like good looking has different plot turns than a shifty looking character. I'm assuming it's FPS. I think a game should incorparate more FPS melee, 'cause it's pretty fun. Oh, and what time period would your game be set in?

plot: BioWare, just stick them in a room and let them write it. After that just some standard controls that would work well, no need to re-create the wheel, Just make sure it doesn't fall off half way through.

That could work and would be awesome, though It would be even more damn hard to do in game making stage :p

Yeah, I though of it as FPS. Shooting part is obvious. The melee combat would be a bit trickier. I thing the combat was the sloppiest part of Morrowind/Oblivion so both brawler and swordsman path would have to be carefully made to stay fun. I'm thinking a fight system from first Condemned game. It was really fun there IMO.

And setting? Think Fallout, Mad Max and latest Terminator movie. My plot idea was inspired by one of RPG sessions with my friends using Polish RPG system Neuroshima, which takes place in post-apocalyptic US (instead of races, you have US regions for your skills and buffs, like guys from Detroit are better drivers, people from Vegas are better in bluffing etc.), where Machines rebelled, occupied North part of US and they are now expanding south. Some part of humanity defends the border, some just lives in Machine threat safe regions, but that doesn't mean they don't have problems of their own (Mutants, Gangs, diseases etc.) Really interesting world and lot's of ideas can be made from it.

The most flabbergastingly awesome RTS ever, which would be like a hybrid of Civilization, Alpha Centauri, Europa Universalis, Master of Orion, Total War, Homeworld and a more mature version of Spore. You would design your own species, create your own culture, religion and history, all while time advances until your civilization goes beyond the stars. For extra awesome points I would enable it to be played as a sharded mmo, with each shard following its own timeline.

I'd fucking fap to that.

A remake of Final Fantasy VIII. Full HD graphics, better sound, maybe make it a little harder to complete the main storyline and add a bunch of side quest stuff. That would be awesome.

And yes, I am aware that the majority of you look at me like I'm some sort of leper for liking FFVIII the most of the whole series.

The easiest idea I can come up with is STALKER as it should've been in my opinion:
(like the Lost Alpha mod)
-No fucking fences, a real open world so you can travel from and to each map however you feel like
-My game will have no building with the 'windows and bricks' texture - every window must be see-throughable , and preferable, every building must be accesible. (Though if the last point is not possible due to technical limitations that's ok with me , but I'm tired of still seeing the 'window with curtains' flat texture in 2010)
-The A.I. can not see through bushes, and there will be multiple forests levels/areas and swamp levels/areas, aside from the urban/rural ones.
-Creepy mutants roam during nighttime and some during daytime in eerie locations.
-No vehicles.

Another idea is this one:
A 3th or 1st person RPG/FPS (you can change perspective). You start with one or two characters (A.I. will take over when you're not actively controlling one of them), but you can find more characters throughout the extensive single player campaign.
They'll all have their own abilities and perks/skill, like
-A sniper dude who has great skeelz with scopes but poor strenght, so he can only fire when sitting or standing still, and cannot operate rifles.
-A soldier or somesorts who has nice starting strenght and is properly trained in most rifles but isn't smart enough with specialist equipment.
-A mechanic that can drive/operate vehicles and repair them.
etc etc.
Also, it should have a diverse character team - not just ubermuscled US soldiers/people, but perhaps also students and former non-combatants from who knows where.

What the campaign should be about I don't know - perhaps there is a lead character that picks up missions in a freestyle, somewhat postapocalyptic world , and then he can assemble the proper team and gear by walking to their 'clubhouse', where all the 'unlocked' characters that have been found will stay at. You'll only be able to bring a certain amount of your character to each mission.

My idea is also to have many different dialogues so it doesn't get old or boring fast - have it so that there are many lines available, but also that it can change depending on the current members in your team. For example, if sniperdude says something to the soldier, the mechanic can reply to it if he's around. And if he's not, perhaps medic will make a suggestion that mechanic would've said this or that if he would've been around. Kind of like how it's done in Left4Dead but way deeper.

It will be a FPS, so there will be shooting. There will also be getting XP, but only partially by grinding - I would like to see characters getting experience for using a gun by just using that gun(type) a lot. There will also be plenty of other skills, ala Deus Ex, so that there are different ways around for each objective.
