I recently thought of doing this, but then decided that with everything else going on (mainly high school) i don't have the time to see what kind of results i can push.
My question is as follows: if you told your parents that you wanted to be MLG, would they be approving? or would they tell you to stop wasting your time?
No poll, i just want written opinions/ experiences

I acually had the chance to do it.(or at least try). But the issue was at the time i would say i was at my best, my mom went on vacation to alaska, so i was doomed to two weeks with both grandparents. I couldnt get on xbl, so my skill just kinda went down from then on. At the time my mom wasnt exactly happy with me doing the one thing that she thought was impossible. But i think part of the reason why she wont upgrade her internet connection is so i dont regain that possiblility. Probably wont like it if she is old school like mine, but might help ya out.

If I was a parent I'd know for a fact that I'd tell them not to bother with MLG and simply make some extra money by actually having fun with gaming and not trying to turn it into a sport...

Well, I'm 26 years old, so I don't think they really care - and even if they don't approve, I can just ignore them.

As MLG is slowly becoming the upper tier of professional gaming, if you're unable to dedicate 100% of your time to it, don't even bother. Every second your not practicing, someone else is.

If I really wanted to do they would probably support me but that will never happen. I don't want to be in MLG because it seems so indelibly unfun and boring to me. I don't like watching other people play games and I don't want to have games be a job.

I'm a good decade off needing to worry about what my parents think.. but going by past experience, they'd worry, but be glad I'd found some direction.

Really, though, anyone who's not some kind of insane talent shouldn't be concentrating any long term career like effort on either traditional sports or professional gaming. The number of people who ruin their lives in the futile hope of fame and fortune in both of these is just depressing.

First of all I would have to explain to them what MLG was, then they would laugh, then they would realize I am not joking, then they would say no.

Then I would have to go back in time to shout "YOU FOOL!!!" at the me who wants to join them.
