*sigh*
Yes and no, lemme explain.
RANT AHOY!
You don't play GunZ, so much as are forced into it. I am the not-so-proud owner of a level 63 account, and I despise it thoroughly. Not because I despise the game, or the character, or the money that I wasted on it.
But because noone takes me seriously.
Let me start by saying this: All the fun that GunZ contains, is in how good you are at it. Most people are pushed away from it because the early game is fraught with ganking, strange gameplay, and slow leveling. The true progression is with the player, not the character.
I see a great deal of potential in GunZ; if you play it just the right way, it takes more skill than any other FPS that I've ever seen. It's not about how fast you can aim, or how smart you are. It's how fast you can tap a mouse in rhythm! Every single feature and featurette pales in comparison to what BF'ing can do. I have personally killed the entire enemy team by pushing them into a corner, and tapping my mouse furiously...countless times*. Noobs, newbies, and so called "pros" are no match to my ferocity. It's not because I can exploit a glitch to work around what people throw at me, but I can exploit it with style. I have conquered every challenge the game has to offer, and I can play with the best of the best of the best.
*I'm serious, you cannot jump into this game. It really does take some measure of skill to win a game against someone who knows what they're doing. Against other newbs, it's like a faster version of Halo/Counterstrike/Gore/Exteel/Majesty.*
This is after around 1 1/2 years of practice, and maybe a little bit of training. My mouse is worn and nearly broken, and I've rubbed off three keys on my keyboard.
And no matter what I say about this game, it is quickly and harshly judged.
To be fair, it is a bad game. It does have the worst community that I've ever had the pleasure of stepping into. The updates are sparse, and the items are unbalanced.
But dammit, I'm good at it, and I know I'll never find a game quite like this. Every master of Counterstrike can be killed with one wrong step, one unlucky corner. A master of GunZ will never die unless they are seriously outnumbered. A master of GunZ...doesn't quite exist anymore.
I take pleasure that I can appreciate something this horrendous. The sparse bits of 'good' that this game extrudes are ignored.
But not by me.
...
So YES, I would like to play with you, but no, I won't like to play without being heavily outnumbered. It's more fun that way.
