Well, recently I was playing Fallout 3 as a big guns character, a behemoth came and I was planning on using the mini nuke launcher, but then I thought to myself "I'll need it later" for whatever reason I thought there was a better use for it, anywho. I saved my mini nukes and not soon after that I sold it to make room in my inventory.
The same was the case on Mercenaries 2, I used maybe 2 airstrikes the entire game.
Oh, and Hexen 64. You constantly get new grenades and potions but I never use them for safety.

Anywho, the question is, what are some moments in gaming you've had something and thought to yourself "I'll need it later" when there really isnt anything that you will need it for later?

Pretty much every item ever in any game where you can collect anything.
I have played through Chrono Trigger about 50 times and I still get weary if I have to use one Megaelixir even though I have 99 and will pick up at least 10 throughout the game.

It's just how I is.

Never. I use what I have to solve the problem, scavenge for supplies and move on. I'm certain the Run and Gun mentality of Halo (Shut up, I'm a fan) has something to do with that.

I never use missiles or hyper bombs in metroid games. Or weapons that require ammo.

Ever.

Only once have I used those, and that was the "nuke launcher" in Mass Effect 2, on insane, on those giant Scion-zombie thingies. And I've been playing games since the mid nineties...

Otherwise, no never.

I do the exact same thing with potions on JRPGs..
And WRPG's for that matter.

I'm a compulsive hoarder if at all possible. I don't even feel bad about it anymore. In fact, I feel pride at being able to beat a game without having to play all my ace cards. I'm currently playing the Chaos Rising expansion for Dawn of War 2 and the stockpiles of grenades, rockets, and support powers I have at the end of each mission always give me a warm, fuzzy feeling.

The summons in Final Fantasy 13.

They are basically unlimited and you just have to recharge your meter by winning a few matches with good rating, and yet I never use them. It's weird really.

RE:5 that fucking magnum pistol. "OI! Look a massive monster that's ripping my partner a new one, guess I should use my shotgun and pistol instead of this big boy...Don't know when something more bad-ass will show and actually attack me". BUT IT NEVER DID!!!

I used to have a problem with elixirs in final fantasy but now I know that I should use 'em when I need 'em.

I have a huge problem of never using ancient potions in monster hunter even though they are easy to get, I just fear running out...

Generally speaking, I do actually use such things I've stored up when I come up to boss characters.

Pretty much ever game i have ever played.
I even annoy myself with it..
However if i think fuck it, use one of my super items.. there is usually something bigger around the corner..

Just so you know, Mini-Nukes like all ammo are weightless.
So there is no need to sell them for inventory space as technically, they don't take any up.

I never used the CAIN in Mass Effect 2 because it were Overkill on anything I met so I waited for some super-boss to appear :p

First aid kits in Left 4 Dead. Whenever I have one I pretty much wait until I am at 30 health (Longer If I have Pain Pills) and then of course I have 50 Health and get pinned by a Hunter and ignored by my teammates.

Well at least I now know I am not alone in my madness! I totally do this all the time, I save all my 'heal everyone and solve every problem elixirs', for when I will really need them and then they just sit there for the whole game, unused even though the chances are I won't actually use them in the final fight.

I'm a compulsive hoarder in basically any FPS, except when it comes to somewhere that is obviously a boss fight, in which case I'll break out the big guns. Otherwise I'll usually plod through the game with the basic assault rifle. Very rarely used the heavy weapons in Mass Effect 2 either, except when fighting scions, praetorians or gunships.
