I'm calling it now: Infinite Warfare will still sell like crazy.

Yes, there's been a large backlash on the internet, but I almost guarantee people will buy it like crazy anyway.

Don't believe me? Look at Modern Warfare 3, The Division, and Halo 5 sales sometime. The general public will eat this up anyway and Activision will make money hand over fist yet again.

Welcome to 2016 and beyond.

Modern Warfare 3 was a fine Call of Duty. I also just like the series, even if I dont like Activision. Plus this is the first actual "next Gen" Call of Duty, since even Black Ops 3 was released on 360 and PS3.

CoD is a popular series because despite what you may want to believe, its not really a bad series. Its just a series that comes out too often and has a toxic community and owned by a terrible company.

The Division I think was a game that tripped over its own ambition. Halo 5 was a mess though.

I'm calling it now: water is wet. Ok, that came out a little more condensending than it was intended. But it's true. COD and BF have lots of loyal fans that buy the games each year, no matter what.

Pretty much this.

You're not exactly taking a risk, OP.

How about applying that huge analytical ability to something that actually has a question mark over it?

I think the more interesting question will be which online multiplayer will be played more, Infinite Warfare or COD4?

I'm not sure what backlash you're talking about, but I'm getting flashbacks to 2009 when the news that Modern Warfare 2 wouldn't feature dedicated servers caused a massive backlash and threats of boycott. It was then that we learned that (many) Call of Duty fans have either no integrity, willpower, or any idea what the word "boycott" means.

There are also those of us who don't care about the multiplayer and are fine with a decent to awesome 6-8 hour roller coaster ride that these games single player campaigns tend to be.

Not to say I'll buy any and all CoD games(Ghosts and BLOPS 3 can suck it) but generally I'm fine with what they are: An 6-8 hour interactive action movie. Though I tend to wait for the price drop these days and if IW isn't fun or good, I won't buy it no matter how cheap it gets.

As I multiple times said already, even if you have a game with a lot of negativity, is still better than they never talk about your game at all. It is still an advertisement. Plus the majority of the players don't care so much for this negativity, because the developers always make sure to make their games more unique looking and throw as extras a lot of interesring ideas.
I don't know if tje game would be good of course, but this game make even me to want at least to play it. I mean, after the Cyberpunk COD we reach to Sci-fi COD. After that I expect foghts in other planets or something similar.

In order for CoD to fail at this point, they'd need 2-3 games in a row where the shoot-bang just doesn't work.

They're shootman GTA.

I'd like to point out that I still haven't bought a CoD game since then. Unfortunately every one of my friends and many of my family did, so my outrage meant nothing. I think its a lack of willpower, they'll see trailers or lets plays or hear their friends talking about it and drop their boycott straight away.

No matter what outrage the general gaming community will buy CoD.

Will it be DX12?

I'm dying to try out my new RX480. I just pre-ordered Battlefield for this reason but I've preferred COD (MW2 was my favorite military shooter in memory) to Battlefield.

I'm excited to see what they can do with it as this is the first that I'm reading it will not be on 360/PS3 as well. And All the way back to Ghosts on Wii U, it was still a pretty game.

If it is DX12, I will likely have to get this too.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_games_with_DirectX_12_support Might get Rise of the Tomb Raider from this list. No COD on this list yet.

Yeah, I agree. My son used to be a big COD fan. Not so much anymore. This does nothing to stop him from getting multiple copies of the latest release every christmas and birthday from various grandmas and aunts and the like.

I wasn't meaning I took offense from you or anything, I was trying to say that me boycotting didn't matter at all as everyone else went out and bought the game despite what I thought was a major cock up on the devs part.

I?m more concerned that they?re running out of superlatives to go before ?Warfare? in their titles; they?re reaching pretty far with ?Infinite;? expectations are going to pretty high for the inevitable sequel. I think they should shock the world and make the next one a walking sim: ?Call of Duty: Finite Peacetime.?

I mean, I hope you enjoy it but COD has run like ass on PC for the past number of releases. I doubt you'll get the experience you're looking for with IW. I'd love to be wrong though and have it run great.

I don't play COD but people have a right to play whatever they enjoy. COD sells a metric fuck-ton of copies every year because it's a functional action movie that you get to play. That's enough for most people regardless of what microcosms like this website have to say about the series.
