Ladies and Gentleman, organics and synthetics, I have come to tell you of quite possibly the best thing that has ever happened, ever, in the history of ever.

So I went to my "Local" Forbidden Planet store in central london, whilst wearing My Mass Effect themed N7 Hoodie. I'd got a couple of items, and I was worried I'd gone over budget. I went to the counter and the guy on the till said "Ah, I recognise you. You're Commander Shepard right?" at which point I just went with it and said "Yeah. Want an endorsement from the man who saved the citadel?" He sorta looked at me, grinning, and then handed me a microphone. "Speak it into this, and I'll give you a discount" Then, in my best manshep voice, through the stores speakers:

"I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my Favourite Store on the citadel"

Half the people there got it, the others were confused. And the best part is, the dude then told me My stuff was "Store discount for the human who killed saren" and I only had to pay half of the original cost.

So, basically, your most awesome experience in a store, ever.
If you can connect it to mass effect, you get brownie points.

I had a friend who went to Burger King dressed as this guy.

They gave him a discount on a whopper.

Very amusing

The best thing i can think of right now that happened to me in a store was how i got three silver rings at half their normal price because the cashier read the wrong label. Thrice.

Sounds really cool, I've never played mass effect so I wouldn't have got it. In fact I've never heard of a shop called Forbidden Planet.

Danm, one of the awesome thing to witness goes unrecorded. I didn't know that store in London got an instore microphone.

I suppose the only thing remotely similar at best is probably when I went to the MCM Expo Manchester last year. The Asian import shop New East (a store in Manchester to buy anime figures and Gundam figure) had a stand there. Sure they were selling cool stuff but the only one that interest me the most was this Gundam model for £20 where the other Gundam model stand were selling theirs at a higher price (rip off).
When I bought it, the owner also gave me a mini plush Totoro (those little ones in the film) keyring figure for free. Sure those keyring were like £3 but I appreciate it greatly.
Not sure why he did that, either because I was chatting to him before it was open (my mate who was selling his artwork gave me one of those free pass band) or that maybe I was the only one who bought that Gundam model

I fail to see why they would give you half off for such a stupid reason.
Maybe because it was funny and in a way to show a nice gesture? I can easily guess it made that guy smile alot.

This is epic enough. The sheer fact that the store's name is Forbidden Planet makes it ten times more epic. Anybody who gets the store's reference, you're also epic.

Employee: Hey boss, I just gave that kid 50% off for making me laugh!
Boss: Get your things.
Well I have no idea what their business is like so I guess maybe he was talking to the manager himself or he is willing to explain about the profit cut or it even willing to have take his paidcheck taken off for doing that (well that would be extreme).

New York Comic Con. The year: 2011. The place: New York you big dummy, didn't you read the first bit?

Anyway. I went as Shepard on her day off, and first thing I did was go play the Mass Effect 3 demo. Overseeing the demo area was Chris Presley. He loved my sign and outfit, so he gave me a Normandy prop code and an inflatable Omni-Blade:

Later on, I met some of the guys from Rooster Teeth (they were all super nice):

And I got a discount on this shirt:

Not to mention a bunch of free swag and other discounts. People loved that sign!

You never worked in a shop?
Its easy to give discounts.
You can only fail to see why they gave him a discount if you lack a sense of fun.

When I bought a cosplay costume in London, I got a free keychain. It had an adorable monkey on it! :D

Yeah that's all I got. It was still nice, though.

I do work in a shop, but you don't give 50% off for making you laugh.

Because you take a hit on profits for what is essentially a stupid reason.
Giving one person a 50% discount doesn't make a difference. We lose more in shoplifting and incorrect signage every day.

Someone referencing previous posts I made?
Am I internet famous?

And no, this was after they had stopped, and I'm fairly sure I didn't imagine it...
