I'm looking for "aggressive" genres of electronic music

Over the last little while one of my friends has been trying to get me into electronic music.

At first I didn't like electronic music, but since he's been showing me different types it's started growing on me. I only seem to be liking the more aggressive types though, like dubstep and aggrotech. I tried listening to stuff like "Deadmau5" and "Daft Punk" but I can't get into them.

Could any of you who are knowledgeable about electronic music show me some genres that are aggressive? I know very little about the different types.

Try drum and bass, you're probably specifically looking for hard drum and bass. Or, just decide for yourself maybe.

I'd say most people would call this drum and bass:

and this hard drum and bass (same song, remixed for easy differentiation):

I'm not really a D&B expert though, so I might me mincing up my sub-genres.

If you want something a bit slower try looking into goa/psy trance, acid house and hard house. These all have steady 4/4 kicks instead of the classic break beat.

PM me if you want any more info, sites to get mixes free and legally, DJ's you might like based on criteria, etc. The electronic scene is a vast, vast labyrinth of sub-genres and sub-sub-genres, etc. You're just scratching the surface, but it's easy to get lost!

So you're leaning more towards stuff like Prodigy, that kind of thing, is that what you're saying?

The first one was okay, not something I would put on my ipod though. The second one I liked though. I think it may be the dirtier/heavier sounds that I like.

Are they the ones who did "Spitfire"?

Might be a bit heavier than what you're looking for, but this is definately aggressive:

That one is awesome, but it seems more like metal than electronic.

Sounds good; Let's dial it up another notch of hard then. Noisia is a pretty popular hard/dirty/grime D&B producer and I think he'd do a pretty good job of filling the requirements. Let's see how you like it!

It's Industrial Metal, so I suppose I might be cheating somewhat. Most of the electronic music I like is more ambient/downtempo stuff, but if I can think of anything in a more aggressive vain, I'll post it.

I love these guys, they were a metal band, then they went over to techno.

Sorry... I don't know how to post the actual video in the comment...

Yes, I like this one!

Know of anything else I might like?

You usually can't go wrong with Black Sun Empire if you like Noisia

Well, Pendulum has some good stuff that may or may not fit the bill.

This is one of my favorites of theirs.
It's really good.

Pendulum is amazing. Also, try Celldweller and Blue Stahli. Here's some of the latter:

Apparently I also don't know how to embed vids from Youtube.

Pendulum (Mostly Drum&Bass), Prodigy, Assemblage 23, E Nomine, Funker Vogt, Suicide Commando, Die Sektor, Combichrist, and possibly Dead Hand Projekt are my recommendations.

Hope the first one is dirty enough for you and the second one starts getting aggressive about 2:20 in. When it gets aggressive it gets aggressive alright, though. It sounds like a Japanese commercial you get a seizure from by watching.
