I'm looking for an RTS

Hey, so I'm looking to buy a relatively cheap RTS from steam. What I'm looking for is pretty specific, my computer is crap, so I can't run anything special. I also don't really want the regular war RTS, I'd prefer a focus on economy and that sort of thing. And I don't want to spend a ton of money...

I'd appreciate any sugestions.

Economy? Sounds like Total War or Civ to me. I think you'd be better off with a simulation or Real-Time-Tactics game. RTS pretty much guarantees war. Hell Starcraft which focuses heavily on both macro and micro still has a fair bit of war.

I'm sure someone else will pop up with an obscure game which proves otherwise though. And it's Christmas anyway so pretty much most games on Steam will get an extreme discount.

I'd recommend Tropico 3. It's an economy based dictator simulator, and a pretty good one at that,
And it's on the steam sale for about a fiver.

Dawn of War doesn't have much for the economy, but it does smooth things out with a focus on combat.

Star Wars: Empire at War has a nice economy bent. Not a hugely complex thing, but a bit of a nice twist. (Granted you can hideously break the economy basically at will.)

Civ and Total War are still good options, but I'll admit, I never got into Total War. Civ is absolutely amazing, but it's turn based, not real time.
