So my Girlfriend is getting her first current gen console (an Xbox 360) for her birthday and I need help finding some good games to get her to go with it.

Judging from the stuff we've played together, I'm really looking for stuff with immersive worlds/good stories/good writing. She has a fondness for dystopias in particular, and romances in the narrative seem to work well too, though that's mostly in a "lets get our guy laid!" kinda way.

Here's some of her favourite games from current and last gen:
Bioshock
Silent Hill 2
Fallout 3
Dragon Age: Origins
Super Mario Sunshine
Legend Of Zelda: Wind Waker

She's also enjoyed playing with me:
Red Dead Redemption
Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Mass Effect 1/2
Portal 2
Brütal Legend
Darksiders
Monkey Island

I'm planning on picking up Alan Wake and Metro 2033 for her, are these good choices? Got any other suggestions for things she may like based on her other favourite games.

Well, I am not one to go to for console games, but if there is a nice PC in your near future *or now, as Amnesia tells me...* Get the S.T.A.L.K.E.R Series, and download their respective community made mods.
Metro 2033 is also quite good, and has its moments, but IMO, stalker tops it.

Edit: OH! I forgot, I think Risen was released on the Xbox 360, pick that up as well :3, it is a short game but well made, and some *including me* consider it to be the true Arcania Gothic 4

May not be the genre she's looking for, but I'd say go for Borderlands. It's one of the best split-screen experiences you can have with a friend this generation.

Dreamfall is quite different to this list but its definitely worth a look at if you really value stories and writing in an immersive atmosphere.

SHE WILL LOVE METRO 2033...I to love dystopia themed stuff and metro will totally work. Fallout New Vegas is an obvious one. My girlfriend and I both liked splinter cell conviction and I think you can get it dirt cheap now. Other than that I can't thinkg of any.

I'm personally not a fan of BioWare, but Dragon Age, and Mass Effect for both immersiveness and the 'lets get our guy laid feature'

Final Fantasy is always a good choice.

Check OP, done and done =D Thanks for the suggestion though

Yeah, we've played New Vegas, I was gonna mention it, but she preferred Fallout 3. We played Fable 3 co-op, she liked it, but didn't LOVE it.

Can't do STALKER, we're both Mac users =/

I'll take a look at The Darkness too, cheers.

Any other ideas?
