So how far have you guys/gals gone to impress someone? Someone you just met, a girl, family, whoever. Was it a stupid or good thing to do and did it work? Impressing people online counts too!

For myself in 7th grade I picked a fight with the biggest kid in my class to try and impress the girl I liked. It ended terrible for me, but did work on the girl as she thought I was pretty ballsy.

How bout you?

I don't go out of my way to impress people.
What other people think isn't important, the only important thing is that I continue to do my duty.
If that impresses someone as a side effect, oh well. At least I didn't have to try, I was just being myself, not pretending to be something else.

Wow.

I really don't know. I don't try to 'impress' people... Although, I do remember one time when I was younger, I used to have one best friend in my school, until she got stolen by another girl, and left me without anyone to play with.
I started hanging out with my ex-friends boyfriend and we quickly became friends. So one day, we're playing in the woods behind our school, and my ex-friend and her new friend were playing "horse" so they put up branches and stuff to jump over. However, they ran off eventually, and we thought "hey, now these branches are ours, since they're not going to play with them anymore".
We took the branches, but after about 20 minutes the girls came back, the the girl who stole my friend started yelling - at me. About a freaking stick. She called me stupid and acted like a *****, so I simply got sick of being treated like everything was my fault.
"Would you SHUT THE HELL UP, you *****!" I yelled at her and her jaw dropped. I got in trouble with the teachers but managed to get out of it fairly quickly and the girl never bothered me again.

I was impressed with myself. :p I'm usually pretty submissive.

... Or well, I used to be.

I have no real personallity as such, which make it easy to alter it for whoever i am talking too, so that kinda goes for impressing people?

(i don't do it for everyone, only the poeple i like)

Ah impressing girls, that was quite a ride, there was nothing I wouldn't do for them (compliments, gifts, favors, rides, shoulder to cry on, doing their work, reading their favorite books, learning to cook, playing guitar, joining their social group,...) up to the point when it was clear the more you try less they will actually like you.
Funny thing is ignoring them works far better then trying to impress, oh how I wish I knew that from the start, would avoided a fair bit of embarrassment, but hey we learn from our mistakes.

I don't really do really out of the way to impress people. I compliment girls I'm interested in more than anyone else, though.

Once when I was about fifteen I dipped my hand in boiling water to impress a friend.

It was significantly more painful then I had expected. But since I'd already gone and opened my big mouth I wasn't about to admit it.

I managed to wait until said friend was out of earshot before squealing like a girl and leaping for the cold tap.

I flex. The sheer quantity of badass and awesome that my body extrudes tends to overwhelm most people anyway, and for the hard cases, I even add a smile.

I start with a flex in order to hint to the people around me that I can in fact throw them over my head, with relative ease. It's true for everyone I've met so far aside from one individual who is known as the Demon Fridge. I throw him over my hip instead. Those who don't get the hint can occasionally require a demonstration. I am quite willing to provide this due to its psychological impact and the fact that it is entirely amusing to watch a body soar like that.

The smile however, is an unusual creature. I have many smiles, tailored to individual circumstances in which I may find myself. It can be beguiling and warm, designed to project a false sense of security until my prey drop their guard to encourage a warm reception in the surrounding people. There's always a subtle hint of superiority, and why shouldn't my expressions have them, given how far I soar above the average dolt.

I have heard it said that my mere presence can inspire awe. So far I have discounted this as flattery and hearsay.

I usually just do my party trick. I challenge them to draw a random squiggle or a series of unrelated lines and I make a picture out of it. Last one I did was of Cthulhu and his followers in Ry'leah. T'was epic and jaws were dropped.

I'm all intrigued now.

Really working on my personal hygiene and appearance was my method of trying to impress. Trying to be funny is another thing I do. I look back at those times and cringe. You know what's worse though, I still do those things.

I would like to say I have never gone out of my way to impress anyone because I cannot even begin to care what people think.
But I haven't always been like this. So I guess I sort of have a story.

When I was much younger, I got picked on a lot for having the gall to be English. I didn't even try to hide the accent or anything.
Of course, neither did my sister, and she was surrounded with friends, so I assumed I was just doing something wrong. With this in mind I did a lot of stupid shit hoping to gain acceptance.

I think my favourite was jumping off a six foot high tree branch and landing gut first on a heavily protruding root.
Y'know. Because some kid told me to do it!

Even this very explanation inspired my spirit with awe and admiration. Beautiful.

What have I done to impress people? Meh, injure myself in various ways, but no decent examples come to mind D:<.

OH, I do that thing where you get a knife, put your hand on the table with your fingers spread out and jab the knife in between the gaps at increasing speed, like the do in...is it Alien? o.o.

I suppose that's more of a party trick though. Always goes down well>:].

Well, except that one time. That scared people. Especially me, I hate blood *shudder*.

How impressive. I would bow, but I strained my back not caring.

=)
Careful, you might get an eye injury if you try to spot the subtle self-parody.
