Salutations, my friends!
Being new to The Escapist and an avid roleplayer, I thought, since I saw this forum, to make a new roleplaying thread.
The story is as follows:
Set in an alternate pseudo-neo-steampunk Earth in 2097, where Nikolai Tesla became a sort of demi-god, Nikolai was testing with powers he couldn't comprehend, energies that flow through all of space and through dark matter and energy. Whilst performing experiemtns to try and negate the flow to his own power adaptors, he inadvertantly opened a rip in the Space/Time Continuum, unleashing the Monolith, the herald sof the Archetypes. The Monolith is a single minded creature with over a thousand different bodies-all the same. When the Archetypes arrived, they were almost completely human. They explained they had been awoken by Tesla's experiments, and now had to aid him in stopping the force he has unleashed, a being that is the fountain-head of all unwholesome things; beyond the devil; beyond darkness itself. Assuming the disguise, Thomas Gallows, it ravages the Earth. With Tesla dead and the Archetypes failing in their attempt to imprison Gallows, a team of heroes is assembled to fight him in all his forms. It is unnown where he is, but his children wander the Earth, called Arrowheads (semi-sentient monsters who kill on sight; a shard of their father.). it is believed the Arrowheads contain the secret of Gallow's location. But not all Arrowheads are simply animalistic creatures: they can turn people into other Arrowheads, smarter and deadlier, acting as leaders. Their is also a cult going around, who thought of Tesla as a god, and are fanatical and wishg to kidnap Jennifer Tesla to bring her father back from the dead.

So here's the shtick: this is a list of the heroes, you can create your own and carry the story as your own from here. I, on the other hand, will wait, and when the time is right, I will come in as Thomas Gallows, or one of this thousand forms. I will moniter this, too, so no flame warring, no racism, no spamming, no shit whatsoever or I will report you, and so will others.

Characters:

Vivos: a male character, acting as the personification of life. Strong and powerful.

Nictos: a female character, acting as the silent night. Stealthy and deadly, but somewhat easy to tempt, as she may be a failed child of Gallows.

Sanctum: a weak male character, using Tesla's old technomancy (mechanical magic which can control machines and power to generate powerful bolts of enegery at will).

Jennifer Tesla: Nikolai's daughter. She is strong willed and wants revenge on Gallows for her father's death. She has many of his ingenuis skills and technological prowess.

You are free to create other characters. Keep them in feel with the story. No god characters or ways to defy death, as usual. And as always, enjoy.

The story and plot sounds good but I would like to understand more of the gameplay particulars like:
-How will combat work?
-Will our character sheet be simple as the ones you gave or should we give a more detailed one that gives things like appearence, personality and back story.
-What's technomancy? (Besides something that sounds wicked sweet)
-The characters your giving are they just foundation for us to build our own? Like I would chose Vivos but then make up his back story and personality around the prompt.
-How many characters are you looking for?
-In the group what roles should be filled out?

I know it's a lot a questions but you'll probably have gotten half of them eventually.

Just a little more info for everyone:

I want this to be told in a pseudo story-book format, as it were. You decide the story yourself, or I can give a storyline, which can be worked on if it is not liked. If the story says you come up against, say, 3 Arrowheads (which, by the way, are humanoid with mutated heads like arrows. I neglected to mention that) you would carry yout the battle as you see fit, as would your team-mates. Someone can win, be injured, or even die.
You can create whatever backstory you see fit for any character you wish to be, or you can create one yourself. Do what you will with them.
Technomancy is like geomancy, necromancy or any other kind of magic, only it is based in modern-times, so it revovles around controlling, creating and repairing machines and technology. A technomancer can turn things into metal temporarily or forever, like his or her body parts. They are usually semi-cyborgs, to get a better feel of machinery.
As said, you can do what you want with them. That is their ultra-basic foundations, just ot get an idea or starting point. You can give them different attributes or personalities. As for Vivos, he acts like a saviour-type character, with vivomancy, which controls life (not as nice as it sounds). But he can learn naything.
I would like there to be as many as there can be, but not a ridiculous amount. I want people to be able to pick this up and create a character. Also, the character can be good or evil, allied with the heroes or with Thomas Gallows.
As for group roles, they all have the same objective: to stop Gallows beofre the Earth is destoryed altogether. Vivos would be more offensive, preferring a more hands-on approach, but will back off if he knows it's sensible. Nictos likes to plan her attacks, but is good at making snap decisions. Sanctum prefers defense, as the new world is littered with machinery. Jennifer Tesla will simply attack anything in her way, the rage of her fathers murder still in her. These are really guidlelines, do what you see fit with them.
That's it, really. I will monitor this a lot, to make sure everythings running smoothly. And Thomas Gallows will pop in a few times. If things seem to be reaching a climax at all, and I do not know or do not seem to know, someone should contact my profile to tell me, and Gallows will be in ASAP.
