I have this router, but my computer seems to hate it. It senses that it's there, but I can't get my computer hooked onto the internet. I've spent countless hours toying with this thing but theres no progress.

So heres my situation:

I have this wireless router (linksys) and a modem. I have two computers in the same room. Computer A can use the internet and practically lacks a GPU, but computer B can ONLY play games. Since Computer B is the best computer I want internet for it a lot. One would think that I could just take the modem, bring it to Computer B, and forget about Computer A entirely and save hours of trouble. But the thing is, Computer A belongs to my aunt and uncle who I am living with.

I think that is should be simple. Just plug the modem to the router to the computers. But everything I try ends up having Computer A with internet and Computer B without. As I said above, the router recognizes that Computer B is connected to it, but I just can't get internet.

This may seem like a random question, but there might be some people here who can help.

Also, for some unknown reason from hell, Computer A is connected to the modem by this USB port that I can't do anything with. So that might be the problem, but since there doesn't seem to be a way around that...Anyway, please help. Thanks.

The problem I had was that I was using a wireless adapter and the provided software was incapable (for me anyways) of using the found signal to actually make a connection. My friend solved this by switching it to the Windows software instead which is found somewhere around the 'My Network Places' section or similar.

I'm not going to be able to help you out any farther I'm afraid :(

Can you tell us the model of the Linksys router you are using, as well as the operating systems of both computers?

I ended up figuring out the problem. My computer (computer A) has a busted ethernet port, so it didn't read the router.
