Indiana Jones 5 Coming in 2019

Gather your fedoras, whips, and walkers.

The long-rumored (but never officially confirmed) fifth installment of the Steven Spielberg [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/indiana+jones] will direct the project, and it will be released on July 19, 2019, barring delays.

In the release, Disney chairman Alan Horn [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/alan+horn] issued the following statement about the film, the franchise, and the players:

Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can't wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019. It's rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn't be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.

The most recent Indiana Jones movie, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indiana_Jones_and_the_Kingdom_of_the_Crystal_Skull], was released in 2008. It received mixed reviews and its perception in the public consciousness hasn't improved since then. This new movie will be released eleven years after that, and Harrison Ford will be 77 at that time. There is no word yet on which other cast members of the previous films will return.

Should we be excited about this?

Obvious joke about Kylo Ren killing Indiana Jones in the movie.

Apparently, despite making the rounds again today, the press release is like a year old. That's my bad.

Reboot the franchise with a new actor. Don't keep dragging out Harrison for these.

The man's had his time in the sun. But he's long past his prime now.

Good Lord... Crystal Skull was really NINE years ago?

It seems like it was just yesterday that "nuking the fridge" replaced "jumping the shark". I'm getting old.

I heard a rumour that they're basing this one of the LucasArts game 'Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis'. If so, that's brilliant. .. provided Ford doesn't plow his plane into something before 2019.
