Ok so let's get this out of the way, I am totally shilling for these guys because I love the work they do and have been a fan for a while now.

Lab Zero just launched an Indiegogo campaign for their next game, Indivisible, which will be an RPG based around Valkyrie Profile's combat system with some 2D dungeon crawling. All the artwork is hand drawn and the IGG page actually has A PLAYABLE TEST PROTOTYPE for you to try out and see where they want to go with this. I've already backed it, as the campaign just launched earler today.

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/indivisible-an-rpg-by-lab-zero-and-505-games#/story

I'd ask anyone to at least download the prototype and at least try it out before you make a decision, since it's free and you have nothing to lose for trying it out (Windows only for now, but they're gonna launch a Mac and Linux version soon.)

Hope everyone enjoys and considers backing these guys because they are awesome (totally not being bias here...)

Skullgirls was pretty cool, but 1.5 million dollars for a Dust-Valk-Metroid-Vania is a bit much.

Regardless, pretty sure this kind of thread is against the rules. But thanks for the info.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I have so much respect for the people at Lab Zero for how they treated their supporters not only during the crowdfunding process but also throughout the process of releasing the promised content. Lab Zero is a company I respect, and if that's not enough there is also a playable prototype to go along with it (Which is a hell of a lot more than many projects can show).

With projects like Shenmue and Mighty No.9 leaving a stain on crowdfunding, it's refreshing to have companies like Lab Zero who are straight forward, open about their costs, and have shown that they care about the fans (And not just their wallets).

While the game does look interesting but I feel like it was just made (well character design wise) to make a statement that they can make a strong female character without sexualizing her.
By all means I have no problems with the gals from Skullgirls (in fact I loved their design) and I hoped things will turned out well for the company without another stupid whiplash made against them.

Saw it a while ago. I think they did wonders with Skullgirls its easily the best western made fighter imo and an absolutely amazing first effort that really can go toe to toe with the best in the genre at least mechanically, visually and audibly. I also loved how they ran the campaign and delivered the DLC (free to everyone for 3 months after release er hell yes).

That said I have little interest in their new game at least so far. So while I wish them all the best with it and hope it (if Skullgirls is a marker for future quality) achieves the success it deserves, I will not be backing it.

I don't know but I kind of doubt it. If you look at the original Valkyrie Profile (massively underrated as a JRPG classic) Lenneth wasn't sexualized:

Also having core fighting game plus combo mechanics down is a perfect place to start for a Valkyrie Profile spiritual successor. I never played Skullgirls but I think I'll be backing this.

Yep, this one and the Them Fighting Herd are the games I will fund to become reality.
It just look so much interesting to just ignore it.
Plus it look so much like the games Odin Sphere, Dragon's Crown and Muramasa.

Cool. I appreciated the aesthetic for Skull Girls, but I sucked at fighting games, so it's exciting to be able to finally partake in something like this. It would also be neat to be able to play Valkyrie Profile without the mostly-awful voice acting. I hope it works out.

Nice. I was a big fan of Valkyrie Profile. It was an incredibly underrated game. I may have to throw a few bucks their way.

Oh my. 43% with 9 days left. They won't even make it to the 60% minimum for an extension. I'm reminded of a saying by the ancient Cappadocians: "If you try to make a clunky knockoff of Valkyrie Profile with bad combat mechanics, a boring story, and bland, uninspired art, then nobody is going to give you 1.5 million dollars for it."

A wise people, those Cappadocians.
