What type of games are you generally terrible at playing.

for me it is rts and platformers

I kinda enjoy rst games but suck at play every single rts I have ever played. for example I am unable to beat ai in rome total war on anything other then easy. ai opponent in total annihilation are too easy on easy but on anything higher then easy they are competent enough to attack me on a decently regular basis. I am not able to deal with very well thus I have great trouble beating them.

I do not like a good majority of platforming games. Part of the reason for that is I am terrible at them. even when fully understand what must be done on a conceptual level, usually I make many stupid clumsy mistakes that just end up causing me frustration. They are one of my least favorite genres to play. generally I don't like puzzle platformers either.
there are rare exceptions like the trine games have lots puzzle solving but you there many way to solve them and you can just relax and come up with creative solutions to them using the 3 different characters with different abilities interchangeably. Trine games I find to very fun while I don't enjoy most single solution puzzle platformers and find reflex based platforming are not for me.

Based on my extensive and infallible research (read: whatever I can remember from glancing through threads over the past three and a half years) you'll probably get a high number of people who answer "RTS".

And I'll join them.

I could become infamous for how bad I am at strategy games (as I'm only marginally better at turn-based). For some reason, I still love the things.

Also stealth games. It's become one of my favorite genres ever since I picked up the Metal Gear Solid games back in 2011, but Lorde do I bungle up those missions. And fighting games. The only ones I've ever been any good at have been Super Smash Bros. and Dragonball Z Budokai.

And for some more specific answers, D&D PC RPGs and Platinum's games. I honestly want to play and enjoy the old games like Baldur's Gate, to the point where I'm considering starting the thing for like the fourth time, perhaps on the easiest difficulty this time or something, I just always get infuriated by the combat. And Platinum games I don't really have an excuse for, I just don't have the reaction time and/or eye to master those insane combat systems.

Not terrible because of the gameplay itself, but I suck at horror games. I live in constant fear of the next jump scare and I'll hang around safe areas way too long to the point where I just doubled the game's length.

I'm really bad at traditional fighting games, especially ones that base their techniques on joystick positioning/swiveling. I can mash buttons as good as anyone else, but precision is something I can't seem to handle in an actual match.

I'm not that bad at RTS, but I haven't had the time or patience to really get into one in years.

I've never once played well in a sports game either. I have no intention of remedying that situation.

Shooters. Both first person and third person. I simply don't have the reaction speed to be anything more than ok at them in single player and horrible at them in multi player.

I'm gonna join the OP in his self-assessment on platformers. Despite countless hours of playing them, I still just can't seem to reliably get down the timings of jumps. Probably the same reason I'm not any good at parrying in Dark Souls: waiting out the exact moment and hitting the button with lightning precision seems to escape me.

Not much good at 2D fighters either, but I'm gonna put put that one down to lack of practice, as they've never really interested me anyway.

Hmmm... I'm gonna have to say City Management games like SimCity. I actually just ran my 1000th city into the ground, despite being somewhat profitable in the beginning. I think its because I get really impatient and build the crap out of stuff I don't need. I did play the new SimCity on a trial basis, actually enjoyed it and felt it was easier to manage than the previous incarnations but I only had the hour of game time which isn't enough to run a city into the ground for me.
Other than that nothing really eludes me.

I like turn based strategy games (Civ, Total War, Age of Wonders) but sometimes I'll struggle. I can win campaigns on the lowest difficulties but on each game's equivalent of "normal" its hit and miss. If I can focus on fighting one enemy at a time I'll probably manage to win, but usually the AI gang up on me and I can't fight a war on two fronts. And I haven't even considered attempting multiplayer because that would be a waste of time.

RTSs.

I absolutely suck at multitasking and I don't care for the control scheme.

I can beat the campaigns on reasonable difficulties, but I play very boring. I just turtle like crazy, slowly build up a huge combined force, then slowly roll across the map.

I get destroyed in multiplayer.

RTSs and Classic MOBAs, but strangely pretty decent at SMITE.

Also kind of slow at "Real" Racing game types. Usually need a long amount of time to be actually decent at playing it.

I think it's worth reprising this classic:

I find myself short of skill at: FPS, 3rd person shooters, fighting games, RTS that doesn't have a pause function, multiplayer games of all types, twitch games, 2D platformers, anything that requires reflexes, good eyesight and deft controller manipulation.

I'm surprised I can get dressed most mornings.

MOBAs. Which is funny because I'd honestly say it's the kind of genre that should be right up my alley. But in the end I just haven't dedicated the time or energy to learn characters and item builds.

I think this is why I like Heroes of the Storm so much. No items to worry about, just select a talent every few levels and enjoy the game.

I'm pretty bad at most RTSs. I'm good at ones that require more in the ways of good resource management and strategic positioning of things like turrets and other static base things, terrible at ones that require sheer apm.

I also suck at racing games.

I can do MOBAs though, or at least DOTA, which the only one I've tried.

Any and all sports games, including racing games. This is no surprise though as I suck at sports in real life as well and always have.

+1 to RTS

Also, racing games in general unless I'm driving a vehicle with extremely tight handling like the· Ducati 999R motorcycle in Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition.

I recently started playing character action games (e.g. Revengeance) and I can say that I've been consistently getting Cs and Ds. Which is fine because I still enjoy the game. I want to say I'm inept at RTs games, but considering I don't play them at all, there's no evidence to actually back that up (even though it might be absolutely true).

Most games actually. Most people here say RTS but I think I'm actually pretty decent at that. I guess I like micromanagement, I always managed to get the most of whatever class I played in WoW...

RTS, Fighting and Sport games are all my enemy. Struggle to understand RTS games and just plain suck at fighting and sport games.

I button mash when fighting and then get bored quickly and cannot seem to compute any sport game (other than Tiger Woods Golf for some reason?)

I'm pretty useless at many types of games, but my special area of incompetence is racing games.
