Although I'm usually a big advocate on letting series die before they become stale and repetitive to the point that they tarnish the originals like Silent Hill, Resident Evil & Uncharted Series. I really think it would be a shame to let this series and the this world die. It's one of the few rare occasions where it's original "for the most part" and it cannot be mimicked without causing huge criticism. Any attempt to do so would always have the original hanging over it and always bring up the dire question of why didn't you just use the original?

This is for several reasons, starting with which you can't just replace Cole with any cloned IP like you could with Drake. Lets face it Drake is just a rethought up Lara Croft with addition of balls and Lara Croft is just an Indian Jones with his balls chopped off. Now don't get me wrong I liked Uncharted 3, but it was a blatant Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and that movie with Nicolas Cage. My point being you can just replace Drake with any dimwitted guy or gal with a bad 90's haircut and not lose a single step; not to mention other series like Resident Evil is just a retelling of every other Zombie game or movie. Any attempt to replace Infamous would always have the original hanging over it and always bring up the dire question of why didn't you just use the original? Because Lets face it the originals are always better, replacing the originals never worked with Spider-Man, Batman or Superman and I'm just going to assume it's not going to work here.

Now your probably wondering on how they would continue the Infamous series when Cole and every Conduit is either dead or every Conduit is alive and Cole is essentially the Beast on God mode? Well Sucker Punch the clever developers that they are left themselves an out, as the last scene may or may not be Cole getting resurrected by a lightning bolt and I highly doubt that the Antiray Spheres kill percent was 100% across the entire globe. Highest case scenario I'd give it a kill 50% since the normal Ray Spheres could only destroy a 1/3 a city.

FYI: No crying about spoilers since since I put it in the %$#&%^* Title.

I dunno, Infamous 2 was a pretty definitive ending and a resurrection would feel like a real cop-out.

I would like a spiritual successor, though. That would be awesome.

That would run into the problems like I mentioned above.

Indeed I do agree that Suckerpunch should continue the series, it was most wonderful. Still it would be hard to get around the fact that Cole died and they can't resurrect him. And if he had a son it would be too convenient.

Still I do hope for another Infamous based on the good ending.

Arg, now I can't get over the ending again. Just...make another one Suckerpunch. X_X

I hope they don't make another one. It had a really nice fitting ending. And if they where to make another one. I just. . . Have a little more dignity then the comic book industry, and let people die. Anything they could do to try and wright Cole back in would feel like, well contrived B.S.

canon wise all the conduits are dead...anything else would feel silly

unless they did a "what if" based on the "evil" ending where somone has to defeat Cole

like Kuo....I know in the evil ending she sides with Cole..BUT I can sort of see her having a "oh my god what have I done" moment and trying to defeat him obviously to make things right but also as some attempt at redemption

since I think she only went "evil" in the end out of pure desperation and fear

[small/]yeah..I like kuo[/small]

Well the lightning bolt at the end of the Good ending sort of hinted he wasn't entirely Dead.

Canon wise I highly doubt the Antiray Spheres kill rate was 100% across the entire globe. At best I'd give it a kill 50, and that's being very generous. Realistically outside of the initial blast would be kill 50, going all the way down to 10% or less from the furthest point like any other blast radius, not to mention there may have been conduits shielded underground whatever.

Kuo was just a combination of Trish and that other agent lady from the first game.

Sucker Punch are geniuses, plain and simple. There will be no inFAMOUS 3 if there doesn't need to be one. And if there is one, then it'll be great. But it will have a lot to live up to.

I thought that was more of an artsy thing than a plot thing.

Also, the major split between the endings feels pretty definite. I don't see how they could possibly bring both endings to the same result to begin a new game like they did with the first.

Couldn't they just make InFamous 3 without Cole, set in the same universe, with some new dude (or dudette) and a brand new set of characters?
Did InFamous 2 ending was so definitive that rule out even that out of the table?

Mind you, I don't have a PS3 so I didn't play InFamous...

it didnt look like a "blast radius" thing to me....more like "ray energy" being nullified/destroyed through out the globe...pretty sure I remember seeing shots of people in africa (or what looked like africa) crying over "unactivated conduits" who had sudenly died

mabye...but I still liked her charachter

I disagree.

InFamous 3 shouldn't be made. I loved both games, and the game series came to a natural conclusion. I really hope they don't do the Prototype thing and try to remilk an ended franchise.

I dunno, it's not the FIRST super-powered sandbox game and spiritual successors often get a free pass, if they're honest about it (see: Dragon Age). It's a great way of continuing to evolve a great gameplay style without having to revisit a story that ended wonderfully.

In the good ending, pretty much, yeah. Everyone that has powers or has the potential to get powers dies in the good ending. There's potential for the bad ending, I guess.

Why the fuck is called Good Ending then?
The Kinda of All Right Despite That One Very Bad Thing Happens Ending seems more fitting.
And EVERYONE? Like in the World or Something? That's seems a pretty extreme... Could a country like India have people with superpowers who weren't affect by something that happen very fucking far?

Pretty much because it's "good" on the karma meter :'] And, nope, it shows you people from all over the world just dropping dead.

Also, a significantly larger portion of people do or will die in the bad ending... everybody WITHOUT powers.

Infamous 2 is... not a happy game.

did you play the game?

"good" ending - all conduits die....thousands of people..the plauge is cured though

the "bad" ending- Normal peopel (in the millions) eather die from the plauge or are likley to get wiped out by cole (and mabye the conduits..depending on how they feel about it)

again...it didnt seem to be a balst radius thing..more the "ray" energy being nullified through the world

No, I didn't, I don't have a PS3 and until I am im my 40 and PS3 emulation is something viable I probably won't.
And I made that pretty clear in my post more up ahead.

And if I haven't played, doesn't the first InFamous involves time travelling other wise know as "The Writer Number 1 Excuse For a Retcon and Absurd Plot Points"

now your just making assumptions....

go look it up if you want to know so badly without playing

the mysterious Villan in Infamous 1 is a guy called Kessler...at the end it is revealed that Kessler is Cole

int he first timeline Cole gained powers (little sketchy on that part) but was unable to save his famliy/the world from the beasts rampage

so what he did was go back in time waaay before he was born, he took up the name Kessler and spend many years preparing for the arrival of the beast..that included taking over the first sons and manpulating the events that we see in Infamous 1..infamous 1 (and subsquently infamous 2) takes place in the changed future/second timeline
