Infinite content, my holy grail of gaming.

One thing I have been looking for for quite a few years now is a game with a high content of randomly generated content.
Quests, areas, items, NPC, whatnot.

IE I'm talking about roguelike games.
The problem is that roguelikes (imho) have 3 fatal flaws, almost universally:

1: To many ways to die/to complex game mechanics, for instance starvation/dehydration/sunburn. When I play a game I want to be able to disregard and not think about how often my character goes to the loo or eats a sandwitch.

2: No savegames. Making a copy of a temporary save and then pasting it back makes me feel like I'm cheating. But then again, I hate having to make a new character whenever I die.

3: ASCII or nearly as horrible graphics. While I don't mind simple graphics (Ok Isometric 2/3D is more than enought for me (Fallout 1+2)), I just don't get the good vibes being an @ making war on the r, or o, or whatever character from the keyboard.

So my questions are, do any of you know of any such games?
Or, what should I do to make such a game a reality?
(Programming skills: low; Funds: lower).

Try Minecraft; it can be 8 times as big as the Earth, all procedurally generated. If that isn't a large amount of randomly generated content, I don't know what is. Also, it looks alright, it's fairly simple, and you can save your games, so it fits all the requirements.

Definitely Minecraft. It's huge yet simple, the graphics are good, and as long as you have some creativity you can play it endlessly.

Welcome to the Escapist! Stay out of the Basement!

OT: Try Minecraft. That's a fun game.

Garrysmod too, as it has an insane amount of free addons on garrysmod.org, and has entertained me for over 170 hours.

I've heard there are some programs that make Dwarf Fortress look better and easier to manage.

Right.
Next out: MMO in this style.
And minecraft is to tedious for me.
I want to quest and level up my char, not farmfarmfarm.

But yes, minecraft is a good game, and I'm really looking forward to what it will become. :)

Minecraft, Spelunky, AI War...

Honestly, anything that's "procedurally generated". You can argue that for Worms.

Minecraft doesnt have quests or an RPG element yet so I would wait on that.
