One thing I have been looking for for quite a few years now is a game with a high content of randomly generated content.
Quests, areas, items, NPC, whatnot.
IE I'm talking about roguelike games.
The problem is that roguelikes (imho) have 3 fatal flaws, almost universally:
1: To many ways to die/to complex game mechanics, for instance starvation/dehydration/sunburn. When I play a game I want to be able to disregard and not think about how often my character goes to the loo or eats a sandwitch.
2: No savegames. Making a copy of a temporary save and then pasting it back makes me feel like I'm cheating. But then again, I hate having to make a new character whenever I die.
3: ASCII or nearly as horrible graphics. While I don't mind simple graphics (Ok Isometric 2/3D is more than enought for me (Fallout 1+2)), I just don't get the good vibes being an @ making war on the r, or o, or whatever character from the keyboard.
So my questions are, do any of you know of any such games?
Or, what should I do to make such a game a reality?
(Programming skills: low; Funds: lower).
