Grab your eye medication and some snacks now, because you're in for a read.

First of all, left me start of by saying that I really enjoyed special ops(spec ops) in MW2 and I thought in was a great idea for the cod games and could be much more popular than nazi zombies if supported with SOME DLC and if some of the missions were more replayable(say an onslaught mode or something). I also thought spec ops was overlooked in the early days of multiplayer frenzy and mowing down russians in airports, and that it is extremely underrated.

So, with the second $15 map packs coming out soon, I feel like infinity ward has abandoned the promise of new spec ops DLC in favor of remaking Cod4 maps and a few new maps, packaging them at ridiculous prices, and then raking in the cash. I never got the first map pack, and the second one looks none the better. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to start a boycott and "Stick it to IW" I didn't buy them because they look like crap and even if the 60% of the map pack that was actually new material was any good, it wouldn't be anywhere near $15 good. When the second map pack came out, I was left wondering... Where the hell are those promised new spec ops missions. People would definitely buy those, since 75% of xbox 360 players seem to buy everything related to Cod or Halo(even themes, WTF?).

So then I heard that infinity ward is going through an internal crisis right now, and half their staff resigned. So they can't make new special ops missions because they don't have the manpower. "But then how are they pumping out new maps so fast, while they only made one new map pack for Cod4, and how do they have plans to transfer every Cod4 map to Modern Warfare 2 through DLC?" I asked. Well as it turns out, There's an oddly plausable and generally accepted theory floating around that Infinity Ward made the maps and remade the Cod4 maps(or most of it, or just the new maps and can quickly port the cod 4 maps because they're on essentially the same engine) prior to the launch of the game back in November.

So infinity ward had an excess of time and made more content then they had anticipated, and they released what they thought would amount to a full game, and decided to release the other content at preposterous prices later and rake in even more money. The best selling game of all time apparently didn't turn up enough revenue. That also ties in with how IW was able to confirm that there would be at least two new map packs prior to launch(I think it was prior, either that or immediately after). And spec ops, the only co-op and fairly new thing in the latest cod game, is left abandoned because IW is in a manpower shortage and overpriced map packs(or half a map pack and old maps) are easier to pump out. I don't have the whole story or very much of the details and this definitely needs to be refinited with more info and input, and I'd be interested to know the actual reason why the spec ops mode has been forgotten insted of just speculation. All opinions and suggestions are welcome, if you'd but new special ops missions, your opinions on map pack prices, and what you'd like to see in Spec Ops DLC. Feel free to post anything relevant.

Instead of just spec ops maps; I'd like to see them add a complete coop campaign, that way I might actually finish the damn thing.

Well, you know the majority of players bought MW2 for the multiplayer. The campaign and Spec Ops are really only played to unlock trophies and achievements. That is why there is no interest in providing new coop missions, because put simply not enough people actually care.

Sadly true. It was such a pain in the ass for me to actually find people on Steam who wanted to do those Spec-ops missions. That's before I found out that my partners in crime were all smelly people who said alot of 4-letter words and had no concept of strategy.

That's an intresting idea, put out dlc as another few "levels" of the co-op campaign. Or do you just mean a co-op remake of the singleplayer.

I figured that, but I just don't feel to well knowing that Treyarch is the only decent Cod developer now.

That really is annoying, because the online is dominated by running classes and spec-ops was the only mode me and my friends found ourselves using actual tactics.

How do you know they were smelly? JK.

I'd play with you but I only have a 360. I take showers, speak good :p, and actually try and do well while having a good time.

I agree that mutiplayer maps is where the money is at and I'd buy the maps at half price, but not at 15 dollars.

Sucks to. Because Spec-Ops was one of the only things I actually liked in Modern Warfare 2.

I went looking around in the woods for it but after digging up a couple other shallow graves I gave up.

AAhhh that gets on my nerves, you wait ages for a gametype you like playing and you get teamed with a bunch of Sea Cucumbers.

This isn't localised to MW2, every multi player has this, like a medic that runs into battle thinking he's rambo, "DUDE WE KINDA NEED YOU BEHIND US".

I completely agree with you.

My friends all complain at me because I won't buy the map packs. But Why should I spend good money on a game that was so badly programmed and rushed for a release date that they didn't even Beta test it? Buying the map packs would just be giving into Infinity Ward's money making plan. They aren't even thinking much when they make the maps. Seriously, look at the resurgents Trailer park map. A series of tight caravans that will encourage fast, close quarter combat? No! It would just encourage camping round a corner with a shotgun.

Oh, I almost forgot, in the video on xbox live for the resurgence map pack. Robert Bowling probably made the Trailer Park map himself. What was his favorite moment on the new maps when asked? Camping behind a clown on Carnival. We can all see what the inspiration for the new maps are going to be.

Well I was thinking a complete remake: but now that you mention it a few extra levels to encourage people to play together would be a nice bonus.

As people have already said, IW have lost all of their creative team leads so I wouldn't really expect them to keep the game alive.
I mean, it's not that hard to make MP maps, but I'm afraid that's all that IW is capable of.
