Injustice League Asks: Super Smash Bros Characters

So... Super smash bros. A game series about some of gaming's most iconic celebrities coming together, not to join forces, but to beat the tar out of each other.

No real rhyme or reason behind it either...

I approve, because, let's be honest with ourselves, do we really need a reason to see Samus shooting Pikachu in the face with missiles?

No, no my friends we do not. The pure reasonless chaos is glorious, and the league approves.

Though iconic, with such a large roster of characters some of them were bound to be fresh faces for some of you guys.

I was introduced to Samus and the Metroid series through it. Picked up Prime because it had Samus and I liked using her in Smash Bros. I never looked back. I've played pretty much all of the Metroid games now. Yes even Other M >.>

I was introduced to Captain Falcon and Samus via Smash Bros 64. I'd heard of Earthbound beforehand but never played it, so those guys were really the only odd ducks.

The only characters that I didn't know of prior to playing Smash Bros were Ness/Lucas, and Marth/Roy. I knew of Captain Falcon, but Smash Bros was the first game I played with him in it, same goes for Pit. I'm pretty sure all other characters I've played in their respective games prior to playing Smash Bros, including Mr. Game and Watch.

I've played Earthbound since then, though for other reasons than Ness being in Smash Bros. I've never played the Fire Emblem that Marth or Roy is in, but I have played several Fire Emblems, though again, not because of Marth or Roy. I've never played any of the F-Zero games, nor have I played Kid Icarus.

I have yet to play F-Zero, Mother, Ice Climbers, or Kid Icarus... But, I wasn't ignorant of the existence of their characters prior to their inclusion in SSB.

I was actually introduced to Metroid Prime in the exact same way you were.

I started out with Pikachu because I was good as him during the original. Then I got my hands on melee after it came out and after a while, moved around on who I played as. Samus eventually became my best until near brawl. I got into a good flow as Kirby and sometime during brawl, these became my go to characters:

Kirby
Lucario
Meta Knight
R.O.B.
Falco

Eventually I stopped playing as Lucario after I realized he was too slow for me. And so there is my list now.

Remember back in the day when P.I.R.A.T.E and the Asylum were the two big groups? Well now it's the Injustice League and Brovengers apparently. Come on fellow 09er, let's remissness about the old days like some of the older members of the Escapist do. XD

OT: For me I was introduced to every Nintendo franchise, bar Pokemon and Mario, through Smash Bros Melee. I grew up with Sega consoles and had a Megadrive, then a Dreamcast. I didn't get a GameCube, my first Nintendo home console, until about 2004, but I had played Smash Bros Melee beforehand.

Buying Metroid Prime based on that was probably the greastest off the cuff purchase I ever made. I really only got it because it was cheap and I liked Samus in Smash Bros 64. Had no idea Prime would end up being one of my favorite games of all time.

Interestingly enough though, Samus was far from my best (or favorite) character in the game. I was almost always either Pikachu or Fox because at the time Star Fox 64 and pokemon Red were in my top 5 favorite games. I would have been Link more, but I was terrible with him XD

Now I usually play as Fox or Kirby though.

I explained that I didn't grow up with Mario in that episode! My first Mario game was Dr. Mario, and after that the next one I had played was Sunshine! >.<
So basically I don't have as much of an attachment to Mario as I do to Sonic.

I love Smash Bros. a whole lot. Started with the original and have played it countless hours. My avatar will tell you who my best fighter is, and how I got this picture from Smash Wii U official site.

I guess my brother and I got more interested in Metroid after seeing Samus in Smash Bros like you did. Metroid Prime and Fusion were our first Metroid games and we've loved the games since, although since we had Nintendo Power, it would not stop singing the praises of Metroid Prime and Fusion so we got them for Christmas that year.

As with most other westerners, I learned about Fire Emblem through Marth and Roy. In a semi-related note, I hope they find a way to include Bayonetta and Wonder Red so that more people know about Bayonetta 2 & Wonderful 101.

OT: I really like Smash Brothers, I didn't know of Fire Emblem before it but I haven't played it yet either as a result of that knowledge. It's easy to learn tough to master and frantic multiplayer fun.

Luigi is also boss.

Reminisce like old Escapists you say? Ah, that sounds like a familiar idea! These new-fangled Escapists with their Leagues and their Brovengers *mumble grumble incoherent ramblings*

OT: I definitely didn't know about Ness or Lucas or anything to do with Earthbound until Smash Bros, though I am thankful that I discovered them. I did know about Fire Emblem as a series before Smash Bros since I'd played Fire Emblem and Sacred Stones, but I wasn't aware of the three specific characters and their games until I played Smash Bros. As for the Smash Bros series as a whole, I really enjoy them. I rather like the fact that they're quite different to most other fighters, which is refreshing. They've got a nice range of characters, an awesome set of stages and are generally really fun to play.

Ness and Falcon from 64. Marth and Roy from Melee. And uh.... uh.... I guess I should pick up Brawl at some point.

Haven't really bothered to play any of their series' other than Earthbound. Not real fond of racing games or Fire Emblem, though Captain Falcon and Roy were my two mains when playing.

I love the game. It's really good fun although Brawl was a wee bit too slow for my liking but the new one is looking nice.

The game does a really good job of introducing fans to lesser seen franchises.

I remember the first time I ever started hearing the complaints of "new people ruining the Escapist" was probably in January of 2010. Ah the memories of be considered what was wrong with the site. XD

I love the series, it's incredibly fun and could be pretty addictive if I could only find someone at my skill level to play with...

Moving on. I was introduced to Captain Falcon and Ness in the original Smash. In Brawl it was Marth, Ike and Pit. Didn't play Melee unfortunately.
