Why are the oblivious still punished by the smart arses' over racism.
(probably not the best examples but) If I sing bar bar black sheet to a child or write of a black board or for owning a golywog, I could be punished to the same extent as saying "No your not playing tag with me, your skin colour offends be...and so on.
Now probably saying enough for me to wake up dead tomorrow. Why am is it I would be punished for innocently offending someone at the same level as that of the actual racist remark. Its like being punished purely for not reading "What is Racist volume 7".

Thank you for bringing this up. The real fact of the matter is, people are becoming so obsessed with being politically correct, and with getting offended at the slightest little hting, that imaginary situations are becoming worse than real ones.
"The pot calling the kettle black" is not racist at all, not in the least, yet saying it nearly got me kicked out of a class. Why? becasue people are so uptight these days that they are imagining hate where none exist.
My advice: Everyone just needs to take a deep breath, relax, and have a little faith in thier fellow human beings that not everything that may sound like an insult, actually is.

Since when was "Bah Bah Black Sheep" racist? Or for that matter, anything with the word 'black' in it?

Everyone can be offended by anything, and it's impossible to know what you're going to say is going to offend someone until after they've become offended. Hell, I recently just almost lost my job because I called a friend of mine a 'sucker' and a supervisor from another shift overheard me and claimed it was a sexual innuendo that greatly offended him.

It's in my firm belief that it's up to the person listening to have a thicker skin and not be offended by words. Words only mean what the listener wants them to mean. Read between the lines, people. Is the person talking with the intent to offend you or are they just saying those words to make someone smile or to make a point?

Bam. People should pay more attention to INTENT, rather than CONTENT.

This image sums it up nicely

People are becoming so overly politically correct because it's one part guilt over past actions of blatantly obvious racism and two parts fear of legal reprecusions because people are lawsuit crazy.

It's actually Baa Baa Black Sheep.

On topic, yes, people do certainly tend to swing a bit too far towards political correctness at times, but people also are often oblivious to common words and phrases that had racist origins. Both are just as bad. (Not suggesting that blackboard or Baa Baa Black Sheep are such instances, of course. That's just silly.)

Well, I hate to say this but I could be classified as a rasist, but I don't believe myself to be one. I purely HATE ignorant people of any skin color, it just so happens that the majority of the ignorant population around Orlando are minorities and I'm not afraid to declare my hatred for them to the world and their faces. And yes, I do insult the white ones as well, but still aparently I'm a racist.
Excuse my poor grammar.

An Australian public pool made a dress code to ban skippy swimmers over the Muslim holiday a couple of weeks back, even though a bunch of Muslim community leaders came out and said "we don't care dude.."

Its like when they changed the name of Fairy Penguins so they don't offend the gay community.

Its people trying way to hard not to be offencive, which frankly, I find quite offencive.

it was banned some some schools
Are you serious? Oi *facepalm*
It could be worse.

They could ban discussion of the Holocaust in schools in Amsterdam because it upsets the Muslim students.

I thought saying 'Black' is PC again. Is it not? Am I behind on my PC reading list to find out what is and is not PC? I AM FREAKING OUT!! /sarcasm

Really, my thought on being PC is this. If you call me a racist for saying something I had no idea is racist (in your mind anyway) then in fact, you are the racist, not me. I find Political Correctness to be the most offensive thing I have ever known.

That would be a "great" achievement in stupidity. If we fail to learn from history, we're doomed to repeat it.
Although I don't think that's quite as stupid as banning a nursery rhyme about a damn sheep.
