Hey guys, just 40 minutes till I can begin the installation of Skyrim, and I've got a question. Currently I have my C drive loaded up with everything on my computer, and an SSD in the D drive, which is completely empty (120gb). I'd like to know if it is possible to install Skyrim onto the SSD, without moving my entire Steam installation over, and if so, how would I do it? I only want a few games on the SSD, not my entire library, as there would not be enough room.

Many thanks in advance.

Maybe try moving some of your non-steam games over to your D drive?

I'm going to need to do this myself, but I'm buying a physical copy. Skyrim doesn't... NEED Steam... does it?

Oh, I mean, I want Skyrim to run off my D drive (the Solid state one). Preferably keeping everything else off the D drive. Should provide me with much faster load times.

I've got the physical copy of the game, but it does require steam.

Well, fuuuuuuuuuuuuudge.

Hm... in all honesty, I don't know if that's possible. You may want to ask around the Steam forums.

Copy the steam folder and all its contents over to your ssd and then run steam. It will update and re-install (Nothing huge, don't worry. All your games should now be running correctly on your D drive

Looks like somebody missed the read saying that the physical copy is just a blank disc :p

This does work, but it makes a mess of your registry.

Tbh though, i'm a fan of SSD's, but if you're trying that hard to gain every ounce of performance out of your machine, another component will probably slow you down.

Having said that, having OS Games and Apps running off the same drive is a terrible idea, so copy and paste away.

Looks like somebody missed the part where that was proved to be false.

Oh yes, Steam Mover is found here. http://www.traynier.com/software/steammover

Right now I have DEHR and Skyrim on my SSD. Everything else is on my main drive.
