First time posting, so sorry if I do anything incorrectly.

I've been browsing around on Match, Matchmaker, and Zoosk, but so far haven't had any luck. I was wondering if anybody else has tried any internet dating services, if you had any luck, and what sites, if any, you prefer.

to be honest, websites like those aren't the best way to get to know somebody, try just using chat rooms might be a good idea. or perhaps the best idea is to get a relationship in real life...

I would advise looking for a relationship in real life. Now, I found my mate online, in a game no less, so I realise that may sound somewhat hipocritical, however making an online relationship work is a very difficult thing to do.

I met my wonderfully loving man through xbox so I'm all for finding love through the interbutts. To be honest unless you're a christian/religious you're going to have trouble finding anyone through the dating sites, especially e-harmony.

Personally I find them to be crap. Most women on them (no offence) are more judgemental and stingee then those in real life. They set their standards so stupidly high on the last place people look.

I say go out there and look around, relying on those things isn't good for both your health and social skills. (or your heart)

I personally wouldn't recommend actively searching online (or anywhere) for someone. I guess I'm just one of those people who believe that 'it'll happen when it happens'.

Posting on forums that genuinely interest you would do a better job than some matchmaker service, IMO. Even so, I still think looking for another person is never a good idea, whether it's online, or in person. Most it usually results in is a short-term relationship or one-night stand. Neither of which even remotely interest me. Now, if that's something you're looking for, well perhaps your methods will yield the results you're looking for.

On-Line dating sites can be a great way to meet people that are in your local area and get to know them a bit before meeting up. You should always meet up in a very public place and probably stick to public places for awhile until you get to know them better, just like in real life.

Meeting up online, and dateing online, and building up your online relationship and hoping it translates into real life is not the way to go. But if you want to meet someone local, keep at it, though there -are- less expensive ways to do that you know, like hanging out in places you are likely to meet someone with your interests.

Yeah, I believe more in meeting someone in real life myself, I just don't get out of the house much, and since I hate alcohol I have trouble meeting people at parties, and bars are out of the question. I just decided to see what the dating sites had to offer and so far nothing. Although trying to find someone who doesn't drink over the age of 16 anywhere near me is almost impossible, so it may not be the dating site's problem.

I've found it to be a waste of my time, personally. That said, I lack a SO at the moment, so taking advice from me doesn't seem like too good of an idea.
