Ipod problems

I just got a new Ipod shuffle, never had an Ipod before so I am a novice, but im having some problems with it. I have downloaded a song off of Itunes and put it on to my Ipod but when I attempt to use it, it does not do anything. It is not the battery so I do not know what to do. I have checked on the internet but I do not know what to do.

Have you charged the thing up yet? It usually needs a few hours' charging before it does anything.

I've synchronized it and I think it was charged allready I did the thing were it tells you how full the battery is and it said 75%.
