Ipod update question...

Hello escapist people.

This might make me come off as a total dumb ass but:

I want to update my Itouch 3rd generation (i think) because I am missing out on an app I want a lot. so the update is available to me, but i have accumulated a huge source of pictures that me and lots of my friend and family find hilarious. I wouldn't be worried if I didnt keep getting a message from Itunes that there are things on my ipod that will be removed in the process. It never specifies what exactly will be taken off, and all my music is already on my itunes so I dont quite know what it means.

The update by the way if it matters, is IOS 4.2 and it was put out sometime last year in November.

If any of you guys can give me an answer on if I will lose my precious pictures that would be great

I don't know about with a touch, but with my iPhone all I have to do is make sure it is synced before the update. It has never taken away my pictures and iTunes generally lets me sort what i want on the phone. Don't know if that's helpful, but it never hurt me.

i dont update my ipod any more owing to previous updates taking up space on the ipod

iDunno about you but i'M starting to thing that the iUpdates purposely have bugs iN them so that they can come out with another update that fixes it.
