Is America going to collapse?

Because I'm getting worried. I can't find a job anywhere, I'm trying my best. Gas prices are going so insanely high my parents are having a hard time getting to work in the morning, and I know there are family way worse off than mine. I heard prices are going to be $5.00 later this year.

How much longer can this last? I want to finish college and get a career but I fear there won't even be a job market when I get out. I have this overwhelming sense of doom crushing down on me. (Mind you I do live with a dad that is the biggest prophet of doom you've ever seen.)
I know history is full of depressions, but the world is a much different place, population growth no longer bolsters an economy like it did back in the day.
What do you think? Are we going to survive or should I start speaking Indian/Chinese?

I very much so doubt that America is going to suffer anything along the lines of collapse, but it is very possible and likely right now that we are going to be surpassed as the worlds number one superpower by China or India. Oh and I empathise, I myself am trying to get a job right now, and none of my attempts are really panning out.

The economy is slowly getting better. Despite what certain news outlets say...

Yes things suck now, but they'll get better.

Either it'll pull its collective head out of its ass, or it'll implode, and fast.

I feel for you, man. I haven't been able to get a job since I had to quit the one I had this summer. I feel like I've applied everywhere and no place will hire me.

I'm feeling the same way you are, I feel hopeless right now because I see no way for me to make money in order to drive to classes each day.

America might collapse in the far future. As we all know no country lasts forever.

However the economy is just getting back on its feet there is no way America would collapse now.

I have a completely steady job and make good money. I've rather become MORE effluent in the past few years. So honestly, I don't even know what the problem is? What kind of jobs are you trying for that are so hard to get?

I'm sorry to break it to you but it's going to be Korean that you'll be speaking.

See I see no improvement, the lower working class (My family) that was already poor, is falling straight into the need aid just to survive category.

America isn't gonna die. But I'm in almost the same position. You just gotta start lookin for internships. Eventually you'll get enough experience to be employed by McDonald's if you just get a doctorate in patty flipping.

Yes.. all empire eventually collapse... but probably not due to the current financial crisis, but because China bailed america out to the tune of 1.4 Trillion dollars it might be worth your while to learn Mandarin one day everyone in america may be required to speak it by the most high worthy double happiness empire overloads.. ie:the Chinese government .. lol... does anyone else find it funny that for 40 years america fought Communism on every front just to loan trillions of dollars from the communists to keep the county afloat

Yeah, it fits most of my topics. Which is kinda sad when I think about it.

If America collapses, it is taking the whole world with it, and I do not think that anyone wants that. So, yes, I think we are going to survive, at least for a while longer.

Well, yeah, all empires will eventually collapse. We've had over three hundred years of fun.

The economy? Eh, we'll sludge through it and act like it didn't make us lose any power.

Name one thing that the world will miss if America disappears? All the corporations will just move to other countries. We don't export jack.
I'm sure a lot of countries would be happy they don't have a giant douchbag nation lording over them with military threats.

EDIT: disregard this post. I don't want to go political. Stick to the OP topic.

i think thats a bit extreme. If the US collapsed it would affect everyone else, like with that sub prime mortgage stuff, but it wouldnt be the end for everyone else.

but on topic. your just going to have to keep looking. maybe the city/area you live in isnt the best for you and you might have to move to an area where unemployment inst so high.
