Is anyone else excited for Elder Scrolls Online?

Been watching some stuff on youtube and reading some of the lore on the official site http://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en

And i gotta say...i'm actually pretty excited for it.

From what i got from this really good review of Alpha~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=SLp0ykvotEI&NR=1

ESO is going to have Dynamic combat using your left key for attacking (tap for light attack hold for power attack) and your right key for blocking.

PvE seems to feel more like WoW in that they're going to have Phased instances/dungeons/raids

PvP goes for a more Guild Wars 2 approach of basically getting tossed into a GIANT arena and given objectives and keeps to take down (even having siege weapons).

Leveling and character customization seems to be a love child of Skyrim and WoW giving you a lot of freedom (for a mmo) to build your character and make them do what you want.

This MMO has some really cool potential in my opinion...Having some of my favorite things of WoW (the dungeons/raids) but taking away almost ALL the things i don't like...

I dunno...am i just a crazy hopeful that's doomed to be disappointed like i was with GW2?

If it's free to play (which I don't believe it is, but there doesn't seem to be anything on the official site confirming or denying this), then hell yeah I'll give it a shot. I'm a pretty big fan of the elder scrolls, but I'm not so much a fan of the MMO format, and I certainly wouldn't want to pay a subscription fee.

As much as I love Elder Scrolls, I really don't like MMO's, so I'll be skipping past this one. Not a bad idea, and I like how it takes place in the past.

The furthest I will go to experience this is watching some people play it online. If I ever played an MMO it would most likely be more of a social type of MMO. One that caught my eye once was Lucent Heart, but I never tried it.

If it ends up just being WoW wearing the Elder Scrolls skin then I wont be interested. However if they manage to capture the spirit of exploration that the main games possess then I'll give it a shot.

Eh, I'm not too excited for it. Its an MMO, which means interaction with other human beings - which in online games is something I try to avoid at all costs.
If its F2P I might give it a try, but odds are it won't be, and if it isn't I'm seriously not interested. If it uses nickle and diming F2P strategies, as opposed to the massive grind but you can eventually get everything F2P strategy, then I'm also not interested. Also, being an MMO and based of TES series... I get the feeling its going to be buggy. Just a hunch.

I got the feel from a lot of the press early on in it's development that they almost were proud of how WoW like they were making the game, not from an aesthetics stand point but a gameplay one, but they've seemed to change course after the F2P conversion of the Old Republic and the success of Guild Wars 2.

And honestly I like TES, but I don't like it for the lore itself, I like immersed in the game world and I can't do it with a bunch of assholes running around and dozens of people talking in world chat.

I could see it working if they don't try and be like WoW. My buddy and I have always agreed the game (mainly Skyrim) could be pretty awesome with couch co-op. I could see it working like the Neverwinter Nights games.

I don't like MMO's at all, i think the way of fighting is boring and quests are boring but i hope it does well, but not good enough that they stop with console Elder scrolls.

I might, but MMO-nature forces it to "balance" stuff as to make different armour almost entirely meaningless. And "from Skyrim to Morrowind" means a single mountain range, I want Valenwood for Bosmer. It may also be relatively that bland in Morrowind-department that it's not worth it.

I've been a fan of Elder Scrolls since the mid 90's and I am actually incapable of having anything approaching excitement for the thing. Knowing nothing more than it exists, I can already predict it's mechanics (WoW) that it will launch with a now untenable subscription model, that the odds of the project actually making any money in the long run are slim and that the only thing carrying the project forward is the hope that the success of Skyrim turns into a long term fan base for an MMO in spite of the fact that no MMO launched in the last several years has managed anything resembling long term success regardless of the property.

Thus the closest I can come to excitement for the thing is the same feeling you get when you watch a car accident unfold in front of you.

Not a single bit.

Don't get me wrong, i'm going to try it but i'm not getting my hopes up for it being good.

SW:TOR promised to wine and dine us but ended up giving us a packet of stale crisps and a can of Gnats piss but, stupidly, that was my own fault for falling for the hype.

So this time i'm just going to wait and see.

I would actually be really excited for it if it wasn't subscription based, if it was F2P or just buy once then I would be fine with it but im not paying a subscription to play it.

I hope it goes F2P because I would love to play it as it actually looks pretty good.

every time i played an elder scrolls game i just couldn't beleave they invested that much time into a world that wasn't multiplayer but had all the bells and whistles so i'd say it will be the next big mmorg however i still remember hearing about a warcraft mmorg and thinking it would be a massive failure so what do i know :/

To answer the OP: Yes, I am excited about this game, in fact I search daily to find new info on TES:O, because quite frankly there has not been a whole lot of info released. So considering the fact that there is limited info regarding TES:O, I am very surprised to hear so much negative feedback from people (not just on this thread) saying that they will not play it, or they are not a fan, or just make tes:VI, or no I will not pay to play, or it will be a WoW clone, etc... etc...

The only Elder Scrolls game I have played is Skyrim. And before you call me a Skyrim fan boy and try to explain that TES:O is an insult to the "true" fans of TES, let me make this point. When I first started playing Skyrim and became immersed in a beautiful, vast world, rich with lore and content, I found myself thinking: What a wonderful game this would be if it were an MMO.

I hear a lot of talk about WoW clones, and no doubt we do not want another WoW, rather we want a game that is the "Next WoW" so to speak. WoW is stale; I know, even with the many make overs the game has received. I think people forget that WoW is old. Its debut was 2004, going on 9 years now, and its graphics were developed many years before that. The entire in game landscape of WoW has been torn apart and rebuilt. The leveling system has been overhauled numerous times. Every class in the game has been completely overhauled at least 3 times, some more than that (especially the talent trees). Aside from all of the changes Blizzard has imposed, many things remain that are stale and most of these issues are being directly addressed in TES:O. From what we know so far: Bosses will be smarter, have a random/calculated aggro table, use their abilities randomly/calculated instead of in timed intervals. Loot will be performance based, probably with some randomness but you will be rewarded based on the role you played and how well you played that role. This is a glorious change imo. No more grinding dungeons/raids for weeks and not getting YOUR gear. Three(3) Factions. Another nice change. Blizzard could have made this change with the Pandas but instead opted for a Nuetral Race that could join either side. I could go on and on, but if you have read this far then you are curious enough to seek out the information and make your own judgements on what you think is better.

If any game can be the next big MMORPG, it is TES:O. Zenimax and Bethesda will pull this off if they can combine all of the best features that are known to exist in RPGs, MMO or not, and create some new dynamics specifically unique to this game.

I am indeed excited about this game ... if it's F2P ... I'm not really looking to pay for a Wow-Clone.
