I'm talking about all types of art so are they all subjective, non subjective or just some of them subjective from what I can tell music is the most subjective of them all and paintings are the least because different people listen to different types of music its normal but when some people say they don't like Picasso or Van Gogh they are marked as morons.

So what do you think?

Yes, because the quality of art is based on opinions, making it subjective.
Me saying that Van Gogh is a terrible painter doesn't make me wrong.
Popular doesn't equal good.

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder".
Art is subjective, no matter what type. Just like beauty is subjective.
Some people can have similar views, but not everyone has the same tastes. It is up to the individual.
Maybe the quality of art is subjective. Art is generally seen as art, even if some people don't like it.
I dunno.

When people say they don't like picasso and van gogh, the art community shows how they are elitist's snobs saying you don't understand it.

It is subjective, but the so called art "experts" can easily make you unsure.

Art is definitely subjective. The paintings, drawings, music, movies, or whatever forms of art that exist is based on the perception and ideals of the artist. Art appeals to the audience because of the aesthetics and deeper meaning behind them.

"Good Art" is just something that can gain a wide enough approval. If are wasn't subjective, then we would never need to make new art, since we could have "The Best Art" and be done with it.

Also, re:OP, I don't think the visual art (paintings, sculptures, etc) are any less subjective, but rather have a much smaller market share then, say, movies or music. How many paintings do you own, compared to songs or films? With music, it's much easier to make something that appeals to a smaller group, which some others wouldn't necessarily like. Painter don't have that luxury.

Yes. No matter how furious it makes me that 'my bed'(google it) sold for ridiculous prices, I have to respect people's opinions.

What I find funny is that while a simple, visually pleasing, painting that has no "deep" message is considered not to be art; while Michelangelo's painting of the sistine chapel is held as one of the greatest pieces of art ever, when it was all just a decoration. He was hired for the specific job of decorating the chapel, if the cracked article is to be believed (no I can't be bothered to look up the source), and tere was no other message than "God is great" there.

I've got to agree there.
Or, that is, I don't think it's outright bad; it's just that there are a truckload of more impressive paintings out there.
I think Jeremy Clarkson wrote about how he went to see the exhibition in... Louvre, was it?... and everyone were flocked around this tiny little painting of a woman, so he figured he had the entire gallery for himself and walked around admiring the far bigger (and therefore better, in his opinion) paintings on the other side of the room.

Art is based on a subjective standard. There is no objective way to measure art or even say what is art, its all opinion. The thing you are pointing out id the fact that you see more art snobs for painting then music. There are snobs in every field but painting snobs tend to stand out. I could say "farmville is the greatest" and immediately a crowd of game snobs would descend and flame me. For music, people tend to be a little more accepting but I'm sure I could as easily say "justin bieber is the greatest" and music snobs would flame me.

I can do you one better. This:

is art. It also has instructions that if broken you can pick up another one from the local hardware store. Yes, it is in fact just a shovel, but also art. Mind = blown. Marcel Duchamp, you magnificent bastard.
