I have looked at some of the reviews and game play footage and it has gotten terrible reviews and the game play doesn't look that great, not as good as the latest one on the PS2 anyway. So I will ask if anyone has played it, can they tell me what they think of it and how it compares to the PS2 one?

I'd like to find out too, I feel like a nostalgia trip.

From what I've heard it plays just like all the other games, except with more characters, meaning all the characters operate almost exactly the same as eachother, barring size (for example a great ape won't be phased by being punched in the shins by a midget, though they will take damage and in return they swing slower, but they do more damage).

They also say it's "like being part of the show". The thing is that almost every reviewer is comparing it straight up with Street Fight, Mortal Kombat and Tekken, expecting every character to be completely different and somehow balanced out (even if you like those games you have to admit there is always a character and combo combination that blows everything else out of the water) which DBZ:UT does not.

Make of that what you will.

No, it is not. You have Melee range, and Blast range. You cannot do either out of their own range. All the attacks are mor or less the same with the exception of each characters signature attacks. Also, has a fair share of quick-time events. Budokai Tenkaichi 3 was so much better. Ultimate isn't a bad game. But it is a terrible Dragon Ball z game. BT3 so far is the best one ever released. If that were to get a graphics updated version like Ultimate, it would be perfect.
