Is "For Honor" worth getting?

Tis I, everyone's favorite sex object tippy2k2 seeking the advice of the common man! I played For Honor with the free play weekend and had myself a gay ol time of it....when it worked.

The fighting system they introduced was a lot of fun and I could see myself really enjoying the kind of minimal but honed to a razors edge style of gameplay. BUT...

What stopped me from buying it (besides a $60 price tag but that is gone with sales now) is when I was playing, I could expect a disconnect rate of about 35%. In those big 4v4 battles. If someone left the game, I feel like there was an internal coin flip whether the game would continue or take its ball and go home with a server crash. With 8 human players, this coin flip happened virtually every damn game...

An epic battle of hard fought victories and defeats wiped away because someone had to leave with a few minutes left and the game became so depressed that it killed itself.

Anyone have the game that can comment on that? Was it just the amount of people with the free weekend that put too much stress and broke the servers or is that experience pretty common?

Last I played, the servers weren't terrible. But population had thoroughly tanked and a very boring "meta" had settled into the game.

no tippy. It's worthless to get at this point. Low playerbase and a series of shallow gameplay modes that dont have enough people playing them. Don't waste you money right now. Unless Ubisoft pulls a Siege with For Honor, the game is dead in the water.

Seconded. Worthless. Another example why only multiplayer competitive games are worthless. Yeah yeah, single player blah blah blah. It was a glorified tutorial.

Evolve, Titanfall 2, Battlefront...all worthless.

Nope. I enjoyed the gameplay and the campaign is adequate, but there's just... no players left. Even though they improved the servers with the last round of patches it still takes a while finding matches simply because there isn't enough people to fill a game.

A shame, since I did enjoy playing it, but even with the newest content patch there's just... nothing to it. Hell even without the newest content patch there wasn't much to it, there's very little endgame to it beyond 'grind for cosmetics or gear that upgrades useless stats'. Still, flipping people on their arse with the Lawbringer was fun...

That one has a dang good single player campaign, at least.
And the multiplayer is still very much alive - at least on PC it is.
