I got Hitman a little while ago and finally got down to playing it.

"Yippie!" thought tippy2k2 in his brain. "I ever so love the Hitman series!"

I've played through the first few levels when, disaster struck. The disc, she has decided that working was not part of the job description and froze. After shutting down and rebooting....the save, she has died.

So I was just running away from the cops on the rooftop when this happened (so....3 chapters in?). I've somewhat enjoyed the game play so far but am not terribly interested in replaying the shit I've already done unless it's worth my time.

So my question to you, my white knight of my entertainment time, is it worth continuing? I wasn't terribly impressed with the game so far (story or play) but I don't hate it either.

EDIT: Wow, going gansta makes the game go much faster :D

It's taken about a hour but I'm past the same part I was at and it went through with no freezing this time. Come Agent 47, we have some killing to do!!!

As to the thread, it's probably going to die a quick death anyway but feel free to talk about your favorite red tied assassin. Just don't spoil Absolution or you will make me cry.

man i LOVED the previous hitman titles, I think i got just past around the part you were up to when i stopped playing, though i stopped cause i just couldn't stand the linearity.

It was like i was playing splinter cell.

If the 'Damsel in Distress' trope is not your thing, then no, don't bother playing it.

Anyway, by the sound of it, you're not very far in, so replaying back to where you were up to won't take very long.

Not awful, not great, and pretty forgettable. That's the whole experience.

If you don't have nothing better to do...

lol at this being a defining factor in why you wouldn't want to play it, is this how bad its gotten? I think i liked it better when people were whining about video game violence

If the Sarkeesian threads are anything to go by, then yeah, it's a common complaint, apparently.
That said though, with Hitman: Absolution, this complaint has a bit more merit.

In previous games, 47 has demonstrated time and again that he doesn't give a shit about anyone other than himself.
For example, near the end of Hitman: Blood Money, the Agency members have all been killed off, except for 47 and Diana.
Diana tells 47 "We're all that's left of the Agency, and I doubt I'll last much longer".

47, of course, remains completely emotionless, as always.
But for some reason, this all changes in Absolution.
47 cares so much about Victoria, that he goes rogue just to rescue her.
It's completely out of character for him.

Hitman: Absolution doesn't actually have any Agency-assigned missions in it, except for the very first mission.
The rest of the missions are just personal errands he's taken upon himself, which is most unusual for him.

It took me a couple of hours to get that far but I suppose now that I think about it, I could just go gansta on the few missions and just murder the hell out of everyone instead of playing the way I'm supposed to...

The chicago missions are pretty meh overall but once you get out of that segment of the game it picks up alot and starts feeling like a proper hitman game.

I still just cant get into it, im a HUGE hitman fan, but my mind is blown at how IO took a unique formula and diluted it - its like playing a crappy version of metal gear or splinter cell. Absolution just isn't a hitman game
