Is it cheating if you know you are going to win a bet?

If you rig a bet then it's cheating, but if I said "all pianos make sound due to their strings" and someone else said "no they don't, all pianos use air pumped through pipes to make sound", and I said "I'll bet you ten bucks you're wrong", then obviously I'm not cheating. I'm showing an idiot that they're wrong and forcing them to admit it through an exchange of currency.

Your friend had enough information to know that he would win and you would lose, and he acted accordingly. It's not cheating at all, it's just a case of someone with more information winning over someone with less information (who chose to go on that info regardless, setting themselves up with a huge chance to lose). At most, it's pareto efficient.

If he sold his game to the store and then made a bet with you over whether the store would have it available, then yeah, it's cheating, because he has directly influenced the outcome. If it is simply knowledge that he has but not a condition that he personally created, then it is not cheating.

No, it isn't. Both parties agreed to a bet. It's certainly shady and dishonest to propose a bet when you already know the outcome, but it isn't cheating.

That sounds more like a con or a hussle. It's not really cheating because you were never going to win in the first place. It is still frowned upon.

Of course its cheating. How the hell is the other person supposed to win?
They're not, and that's why it's not cheating.

One of my friends made a bet with me a while ago, $15 that both the St Louis Rams and the Tennessee Titans would have gone 0-16 last season. I accepted the bet knowing that he would lose and I would win, because I had information he did not have; that the Rams and the Titans would play each other during the season, making it impossible for both teams. By accepting this bet, would I be cheating? After all, my only edge is having more information.
