Is it illegal to post someone's phone number online?

I've gotten myself into a jam, and need to unjam the jam before the jam gets too jammy. Plus I hate jam.
Long story short, I posted someone's phone number (that I hate) requesting they be written a message. Any old message.
Is that illegal? And if it isn't, should it be?

I'm pretty sure that comes under harassment. Or something else. At any rate, if they were bombarded with messages, I'm pretty sure they could sue if they found out you did it.

Depending on what else you did it might be considered as part of a harassment case, but only as a part.

That's a really petty and childish thing to do, I hope that comes back and bites you in the ass.

It's not illegal but why couldn't you have just sent them the message?

Internet and contact information continues to be a grey area. It's not an automatic crime but people can still build a case around it being considered invasion of privacy or harassment.

Generally not a good idea to do it, simply to save yourself hassle.
