Is this just me?

I havent found a game I like made within the last 4 years!

The games I like: Warcraft3, counter strike cz, Tombraider (1,2,3,4), crash bandicoot, Gran Turismo, Tekken 3, GTA, Diablo2, old PES, worms (2, world party, armageddon), a mmorpg called Tibia a while back. As you can see I play most genres :p

Games I have tried to like: Crysis, COD4, new tombraiders, wow, new fifa+PES, Gears of War 1, Test drive unlimited etc.

I play them for a couple hours (if that even) then just stop, theyre just boring, thats the only way I can explain it.

I got my first games console at age 5, a PS1 then GB colour, GB Advanced SP, PS2, XBOX 360, Wii and a proper gaming pc couple years ago. I sold my Wii after 2 weeks because it sucked, only console I have at the moment is PS2 and 360, havent played neither for over a year.

I'm 15 now, the only game I play ocassionally is warcraft3 and thats it, am I just getting too old for games or what??

It feels like the new games are too easy, in terms of requiring creativity and theyre just not.. exciting.. I remmeber playing tomb raider finding hidden areas and actually caring about the game, wanting to complete it, finding out how the story ends.. the stories on the new games are just crap, I just dont care about them, it feels meaningless ???

Old games were kinda better, I think. For the most part. Good original games are rare these days.

No it's definitely not just you,I feel the same way with the past 4 years. There have been a couple good ones though but games aren't the same as back then and it makes me really sad. :(

Nah, I think almost all games nowadays are steaming piles of garbage. It's a cynic thing.

I suppose it's just personal choice. If you love older games, then play them. Recently, games have become more about money and shiny graphics than an actual story. It's sad, but true.

The gaming industry is as it has always been, hit and miss.

For every good game of the past, there were 3 shockers. Just like for every Portal there is today, there are 3 Madden pro footballs.

The industry hasn't collapsed (yet), it's the same as it always was. Except they've replaced the psychic fry cook protagonist for an embittered ex-marine out for vengeance.

Hmmmmm maybe you just need to try a different demographic of games. This is not unknown to me though, for no reason at all I will just lose interest in a game and not come back to it for months.

I'm pretty sure it's just you...whoops, add Taylor and Nades as well.
I enjoy plenty of new games.
And if you think you're too old for games at 15, then...well, I guess you can feel as you like, but that's damned odd.

You're at a gaming forum... and you don't like games?

And yes, it's just you.

It's. There are plenty of good games out now, either you're making terrible choices or you're just jaded.

I remember playing Baldur's Gate with an almost innapropriate fondness, but it doesn't mean I don't enjoy Mass Effect.

Hmm, I think games are better today that the ones of yesteryear. Think of it this way, if Warcraft 3 was released today, would it be considered as good as it was originally?

Well hold on now, what story was there in Super Mario? Or any arcade game for that matter?

It's true that games have become amazingly lucrative these days, and there are less original concepts for games because of that, but not all of them fall victim to 'realistic' graphics and unispired story-lines.

I'd count BioShock, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, CoD4, Burnout Paradise and Street Fighter 4 as games that will one day be called 'classics'. I think it's just you, OP. Today there are brilliant games being made. It's true that they don't make 'em like they used to, but that's because they can't. It's been done before. A million times. And if you thought bad games only existed today, then you need to be born several years earlier and play some Jaguar.

It's you and everyone else who lives their lives LOOKING for things to complain about. Yes. Fine. Modern games aren't perfect. But neither were old games. You just have to get in there and enjoy the games you can.
