Is it me or is Dark Souls really repetitive?

I played Demon's Souls and it was very fun, a challenge, but nothing that I couldn't fix by getting a few friends together. With dark souls however, From Software seems to have gone a little far with the idea of difficulty. Yes, you get better each time, but I find myself playing the same sections several times not because I'm dying, but because its such a pain to get to the bosses and I want to have to get to them less.

Is it me or did Demon's Souls had nearly none of this? I found on average you would die no more than three times in Demon's souls while fighting bosses, so you wouldn't have to play the section more than 5 times. But in dark souls I'm playing sections upwards of five times. At least in demons souls you would regularly have a quick shortcut to the boss.

To me it seems that they unnecessarily changed a lot of things to make your life more difficult in the game: Less souls per enemy = grind. The open world was a nice idea but it makes travel a little more tedious for me. You roll more slowly, really rustles my jimmies.

Feel free to disagree with me beyond the fact that I am a pussy, yes I am a bit of a pussy.

But where are you dying? Is it the monsters or the environement or the bosses? If it's the monsters , then maybe your being over zealous? If it's the bosses then duh thats how it's suppose to be . If it's the environement , your not being cautious enough ( although being killed by the environment more than 5 times at the same place is a problem ) . Might also be the fact that your not too skilled at the class you chose .

Did you finish demons's souls btw? I would think that would have prepared you sum.

I beat Demon's Souls at least five times over. And I find myself dying at the bosses, I exaggerated how much I die to the maximum amount I have before. Not every boss takes me 5 deaths to beat. I understand that you are meant to die at bosses. But the way the world is set up makes it rather repetitive to get back to the bosses. There were a lot of semi-direct shortcuts to the bosses. Maybe I am a bit rusty, but I also think that the whole dying to learn is a little forced. Not every boss in Demons souls would kill you the first time.

I'm rambling a tad, so this probably does not make perfect sense.

I dont find this game repetitive at all. I have done 3 bosses so far and all 3 have been close to a bon fire.

Are you saying that Dark Souls has done away with shortcuts? If so that's a major flaw, Demon Souls put a lot of thought into when and where they added shortcuts to keep the game challenging without being too repetitive.

It actually has a lot of really good shortcuts, at least with what I've played so far.

Yup. Lotta great shortcuts. And finding them feels great. It's a huge weight off your shoulders.

I see the repetitiveness too, but it doesn't bother me. It would if the game wasn't always keeping me on my toes, but it is.

That is repetition of action. Pretty much all games have a repetitive action. If you but a shooter, you should expect to do some shooting. This does not mean that they are repetitive within the world of the game. A repetitive game would be more akin to playing the same 3 minute bit of a game world for 10 hours.

Most of us do a lot of eating. The concept doesn't tend to change much, we put things in our mouths and chew. What we are eating is what makes a difference, if you eat chocolate for your whole life you will be sick of chocolate, not eating. There is a difference between sections of a game and actions you preform in game. Sections can have a variation in aesthetic, the tactics of enemies, or limitation on your player.
