Lotta love for this game, but I only have a ps3 and a PC. Since the PS3 version is dogshit, I'm debating whether to pick up a used xbox360 on ebay for Bayo.

Could you also include in your answer a couple of your favorite games from this gen so I know if we have similar tastes?

Oooh, Bayonetta is my absolute favourite hack and slash.

One of my PSN friends has a PS3 and he said it was playable. Can you just rent it and try it out, see if it works first? It's pretty cheap these days anyhow.
They also patched an option to let you install the whole game onto your ps3, it reduces loading times.

I'd say no console is worth it for only one game.

Bayonetta, while fun, isn't worth $200+ all on it's own in my opinion.

Unless you're rich and have money to burn.

From what I've heard, the PS3 version of Bayonetta isn't that much different from the 360 version. Just longer loading times and slightly worse graphics.

Lets see here, my favorite games from this gen include in no particular order:

Fallout: New Vegas (XBOX 360)
Valkyria Chronicles (PS3)
Journey (PS3)
Ratchet and Clank: Tools Of Destruction (PS3)
LittleBigPlanet 2 (PS3)
Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii)
The Last Story (Wii)
Rayman Origins (XBOX 360)
Super Meat Boy (XBOX 360)
Castle Crashers (XBOX 360)
Pokemon Black and White (DS)
Bayonetta (XBOX 360)
Team Fortress 2 (PC)
Portal 2 (PS3)
Halo 3 (XBOX 360)

I'm sure I'm missing a few, but that basically covers it.

It sort of is. Bayonetta is absolutely fantastic and I've sunk hundreds of hours into it. If you buy it second hand and sell it when you're done you shouldn't end up too far out of pocket.

Favourite games this gen are Bayonetta and Rock Band 3 but that isn't terribly useful. I'd say Arkham City and Human Revolution come next.

You should be aware that Bayonetta is stupidly easy to win, you get infinite continues with regular checkpoints and spamming the simplest combo will get you past anything after a fashion. However the score you get at the end makes it extremely clear that isn't good enough so you're encouraged to replay it to get a better ranking. If you aren't that kind of person Bayonetta makes you that kind of person but if you resist it then you won't get anything from the game.

Actually there are a few other games the 360 might get you access to that are well worthwhile. Guardian Heroes, Fez, Radiant Silvergun, Shadow Complex and Rez HD. All XBLA but all excellent.

You might also consider getting a WiiU, that's bound to have a ton of good exclusives that bring the per game cost a lot better than the 360, it already has Rayman Legends, Bayonetta 2 and The Magnificent 101.

If that's the one game you're going to buy, probably not; Bayonetta's one of my favourites, but it's also got quite a short playthrough (admittedly with hella unlockables).

The PS3 version isn't that bad, I have it and had a blast. I can't compare it to the 360 version, but I find it hard to believe the differences are worth spending $150-$200 on a 360 and the game. Unless you're rich, but in that case you wouldn't be asking this question.

I'm hoping, since bayonetta 2 is going to be a wiiu exclusive, that they also release a wiiu version.
Then I won't have to play it on ps3 ever again.

I'm going to say no. Don't get a console for only one game.

If you're considering buying an Xbox, I'd look around and see what other games interest you on it before you drop that kind of money.

Play it on PS3, you'll be to busy kicking ass to notice the graphics.
*besides, the patch you can download severly kicks down the loading times*

But to answer, NO, it's not worth buying an Xbox JUST for Bayonetta.

EDIT:

Some of my favorite games ( this gen):

- Bayonetta
- Vanquish
- Journey
- Deus Ex HR
- Fallout 3/New Vegas
- Bioshock (NOT 2)
- Infamous 1 and 2
- Gravity Rush
- Assassin's Creed II
- Mass Effect 2
- Just Cause 2

nah don't get an xbox just for bayonetta. Only get an xbox if you plan to get bayonetta and play the xbox exclusives like GoW, Halo, Rumble Roses xx, or something.

I don't know how much better the XBox version is supposed to be but I was able to play through the game on my PS3 just fine without noticing any issues whatsoever.

If you're getting an xbawks, find some other games that are exclusives to get for it. Can't think of any other than Halo and Gears off the top of my head, but look around.

I really want to say yes because Bayonetta was a damn good game but I don't think it's worth $200

The 360 has alot of fun cheap games on it so yes yes yes! Its also worth while to get the PS3 for one disc versions of games to big to fit on a single 360 disc!

I heard somewhere that they patched most of the major issues out of Bayonetta on PS3....

You seriously think the difference between the PS3 version and the Xbox version is worth an entire console. Really.

There are only a handful of games that are worth an entire console on their own, let alone a game that is already playable for you.

Nooooooooooooooooooope.
Bayonetta is a brilliant game, but having just got a PS3 I've realized how few exclusives the 360 has that seem decent.

The answer? Not very many.
