Terminator 4 is on the TV as we speak and the part where Arnie's cameo happens is on and it has me thinking. Pretty soon CGI will be able to be life-like in quality. Given the fact that 99% of dialogue in film is ADR (Dialogue replacement in booths) my question is this...

Is it wrong to use an actor to fulfill a roll they started when they were alive using CGI imagery and voice actor impersonators?

Could this lead to the revival of film greats like Abbott and Costello?

Having just watched Terminator 4, it's completely wrong to have made a 4th Terminator movie.

I hate it when they do it with music, people singing duets with the long dead, or re-unions tours of the Beatles with a few of them not actually being present in this life.

On the other hand, like most things, if it was done with taste, it's alright, but people will do it tackily for a cheap buck.[small]And, yes, I am qualified to make the distinction.[/small]
