With Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas being one of Rockstar's biggest successes, it would seem almost counter-intuitive for them not to build, expand or stem from the game that sold 21.5 million copies.

Although newer Grand Theft Auto titles are set in a separate universe (the "HD Universe") from San Andreas, surely it wouldn't hurt to take a more modern approach to the gangster-style game either under the Grand Theft Auto franchise or perhaps even a completely separate one.

I, for one, would welcome a game similar to San Andreas with open arms; providing it had a new, unique and equally catching storyline.

What are your thoughts and speculations on this?

I?d think no. Rockstar has more money than God and they?ve got a formula that sells; I doubt they?ll ever have to eat leftovers, especially with the majority of the world untouched by their brand. We?ll see Red Dead Redemption 2 next, then I imagine [read: hope] we?ll see a GTA set somewhere other than North America, both well before (if ever) they revisit the aging ?gangsta? trope. Besides, while gangs are still prevalent nowadays, there are far more provocative issues in current affairs for them to satire.
