Is Saw 7 too far?

Until recently I was under the impression that the Saw film franchise was only going to continue til Saw 6, a prospect I found comforting as it would mean some final closure on the secrets of the storyline.

However I have heard that Lionsgate plan to produce a Saw 7 (maybe more, not sure).

This made me annoyed as it would just mean a more contrived storyline-extending cliffhanger to expect at the end of Saw 6, which I wouldn't want as I do actually like this series.

Anyway, please feel free to state your opinions on this news and whether or not you think the Saw series should end definitively.

Honestly, I have never really been into Saw. I watched the fourth and thought it to be the worst movie I have ever seen in my life. For them to be making at least seven in total is beyond comprehension for me. I think that it should have ended with the first movie though, so my opinion is probably not valid.

There are only so many possible deathtraps that can be conjured up until the remaining audience realises it got stale around Saw II. Or halfway through the first one, come to think of it. Trying to put a plot like that in a film like Saw just made the films confusing and pretentious, and they really missed the point of why people watched the films.

The first one was good.

But seriously they are just stretching the story beyond ridiculousness now. The fact they release a movie every year is just odd to me. Whatever though, if people watch it I don't really care.

I think it went on too long after Saw 1. When I saw it, I actually left the theater and demanded a refund about halfway through, because it was just so bad.
Plus, sequels just get worse and worse over time...

Saw 2 was too far. I'm embarrassed to admit that I used to be a huge fan of horror movies, and actually SAW saw 1 and 3, pun intended.

i believe they're making 10

i find the deaths suitably creative, so i'll likely buy a boxset

The last one I watched was Saw 3. After that, I thought that there's just no point left in these films. The plot is ridiculous. The only thing these films have going for them is the gross-out factor of watching people get ruthlessly slaughtered in new and interesting ways.

Saw 4 was too far. Hell, Saw 3 was pushing it. I remember when the first one was considered original and fresh. Look where they are now...

As long as they still have a story to tell and creative traps, I'll be on board.

To be honest I was all for the original plan to have saw 3 as the final film. In hindsight, I really should stop believing their promises of ending the series

As a movie franchise, I do think 7 movies is a bit much. But hopefully that'll be it.
