I'm becoming more and more retro and missed out on the Dreramcast. Now I'm asking myself if it's still worth buying. That's why I'm asking you which games are a good reason to still get the console. As for the genres: I can get into everything as long as it's not sports or racing.

These are the games that originated on the Dreamcast (I think), which I already own for another console:

- Skies of Arcadia
- Shenmue 2
- Street Fighter 3rd Strike

Not really, no, Dreamcast wasn't that good. I'd suggest a Playstation 2, it was a very good console. Its also nice to see Sony before they turned to the Dark Side of the force.

*giggles* I love that. I also love Yahtzee.

If it is pretty cheap and you have the money to afford it without any hastle, I don't see why not.

I don't support meaningless money wasting.

I have three games which I'm fairly sure haven't ported to newer platforms:

Jet Grind Radio (the sequel was Jet Set Radio Future, released for the Xbox)
that Dragonriders of Pern game, which was eminently dreadful, but interesting if you're a completist
the original Urban Chaos, which was also released for the PC at the time
and Typing of the Dead (which has PC versions, I believe)

Come to think of it, Typing of the Dead alone is worth getting it for.

I'm sure there are plenty of others that never made it into the modern age, but some, like Samba de Amigo and Space Channel 5 have been ported to modern platforms.

But yeah, if the price is right, go for it, especially if you've got a source for titles. Though I doubt you'll find anywhere near a decent price for the broadband adapter.

A lot of games have been released on other platforms or have improved sequels. Record of Lodoss War is one of the most fun action RPG games out there and worth playing. The original Jet Set Radio is still exclusive.

That was only because no one had a TV that could handle it. The Dreamcast was ahead of it's time.

I'd say yes, but I hate retro. So no.
I don't even consider Dreamcast as 'retro', it's more like (sega's) funeral......

Don't you even start insulting the majesty that was SEGA.
It was. Before the dreamcast. I do own Sega MG and Genesis,(well they're gathering dust in the attic but that's not the point.) the dreamcast was sega's deathbed and grave.

Ah good old Sonic Shuffle. I'll never forget that game. I had more fun on it than Mario Party and forever shall.

Because the rest of the world was still stuck with PlayStations and N64s. The Dreamcast deserved to be up there with the PS2 and the Xbox no it didn't, but it was just released too early,(Not relevant) and the world couldn't be arsed with it.
It had like what?, 5 games worth of buying?
EDIT: wait, WHAT? PS2 and Xbox? seriously? Wasn't it psx and N64s?
You jumped a whole console gen there! o_O

The best game on the system, Soul Calibur, is on XBLA now anyways. I still have my original one and I actually still play it from time to time, but no I wouldn't go out and buy one.

No it came out after PSX and N64, and it was an upgrade in hardware from either of them. I don't know how well the hardware matched up against PS2/GameCube/Xbox though.
