To be honest, I never watch sports. The only time I really turn on the TV is to watch FOX or CNN. But it seems very strange to me for people to huddle around the TV and cheer on a team with various team merchandise and enough fast food to feed about 20 normal meals. I'm not really into watching sports since 1. I'd rather be playing and 2. I live in Hawaii. But it seems very strange to me when people that avoid playing sports every other day of the year get so hyped up for this...

Bragging rights I guess, a feeling to belong to something. If you are raised to support a team you are likely to keep on supporting the team. Maybe the atmosphere of supporting one side? If you are neutral it won't be as good but when you're with your fans singing and cheering. Shouting and complaining.

This is what it is like at football(soccer) games for me. Scoring a goal during injury time or coming back from 1-0 down. It just makes you feel great.

I have to say, not even being American, or living there, I do like to watch the Superbowl. The brief time I spent in America sort of got me hooked on American sports.

I don't do the whole sitting around with a group of people thing, but from 11pm till 4 in the morning I'll be sitting on me own watching a game happening 3000 odd miles away haha.

I think this is about all the football I care to take in this Superbowl season.

That'll do.

Replace superbowl with the Stanley Cup and you have me and my cousin.

It's important, if you say it isn't I will hit you with a hockey stick.

I don't care for football, nor rugby for that matter. Also baseball. They're just so boring. There's never any action, except for the two seconds before someone goes down. Then its 5-10 minutes of commentary, commercials, lining up, hutting, and back again. No thanks.

I hardly watch sports anyways. This year, I decided I'd watch hockey. But after I started, the Oilers lose every damn game. And it's boring if your team isn't winning. So that hasn't worked out.

I never get how the Superbowl is any different from a regular football game. Why all the snacks? It's not like it lasts any longer! I mean sure it's 'bigger' or whatever, but are you THERE? NO! So stop obsessing about it... dad!

Ugh I hate it. Just a game in which over paid people smack into people for a couple hours. Isn't more fun to play the game then to watch it?

It's part of being a part of something. If your team gets into the Superbowl, it's pretty awesome since all of America watches it.

I'm not really into team sports actually. I loved doing full contact martial arts like Karate though. It got a lot of frustration and anxiety out. I was often called out for being too brutal: I nearly broke some kid's neck with a roundhouse kick once, but I actually won the match for that...There's nothing more appealing to me than physically fighting or watching people fight. Nothing else gets the adrenaline pumping like that. I've watched enough football in highschool to last me a lifetime.

But that's the thing. It's not my team. I don't have any control over it, and it's not like they force all the players to be from the state the team is on. See? I can understand somepeople like sports but I don't know why everyone has to watch it. Like the OP I'd rather be gaming

I don't think anyone really does those things, it's just a nice time to get together with family and friends. Sometimes people we don't even know will come over too. A whole bunch of merch isn't neccessarily custom neither is fast food, homemade wings will do just fine.
