Hello everyone I've decided to finally take the plunge and build my on PC for gaming since I've been using a crappy Toshiba laptop with no dedicated video card. I was told to look for parts at Newegg.com and it was on there that I saw a PC for sale called the CyberpowerPC Gamer Ultra 2098 for $519.99, it certainly sounds nice but I'm not tech savvy enough to know if it's any good so here are the specs and please let me know if it's a good rig or not.

Thanks in advance.

AMD FX-Series FX-4100(3.6GHz)
8GB DDR3 500GB HDD Capacity
AMD Radeon HD 6670 1GB
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit

Not the greatest for its price. The question is, are you willing to build a desktop yourself? If not, you might not get a better deal than what you have presented. The system you selected will run any game, but its video card is an entry level gaming card, more demanding titles will tax that system beyond its abilities, especially at higher resolutions. Expect low to medium settings on some titles.

If you build your own system, you can get a better system in terms of hardware for a similar price, though you will have to add $100 for a Windows license. $500 is a tight budget for a gaming PC, but it is doable, if you are willing to set aside a bit extra for a Windows license. If you include Windows in that $500 budget, you're unlikely to be able to do anything better than what Cyberpower has here.

It'll run any game designed for the xbox 360(almost all games available currently) just fine.

If you're a videophile, it's not going to be good enough for you. But then again, nothing ever will be so w/e.

Technically this *might* be cheaper built on your own if you can provide the OS for it from a previous computer, however you're not being gouged or anything here. If you don't know how to piece together a computer from a bunch of electronic pieces and a big plastic shell, it isn't worth spending a weekend playing jigsaw puzzle with a bunch of sensitive, fragile, and expensive jigsaw pieces. Especially when said pieces can be damaged or destroyed by something as trivial as static electricity.

Something worth mentioning is that there's another console generation coming up in a year or two(probably?), and the baseline for PC games will likely be set at whatever the next Xbox is. It *might* be worth holding off until then to see what will be needed to make those games work, if you are a big enough cheapskate(like me) to be patient.

Cyberpower is kind of a ripoff. They put cheap parts in a flashy-looking case with lights and windows.

You're better off just building your own PC from Newegg.

And as always, consult the Falcon Guide for a guideline on what a good price is for parts. Always updated here:
