How soon before we get superpowers? Anybody got theirs already?

Does being annoying count as a superpower?

Anyway, more proof that scientists really are bored out of their minds.

I established I'm a mutant when I read an article last year stating that people with blue eyes have a genetic mutation.

I believe that people could actually get weird powers in the course of evolution since mutation is a natural component of said evolution... but since one such stable mutation would constitute a superior genome that genome would be transmitted via reproduction without change, which means that we'd see (for example) a slow but exponential increase in people who can manipulate fire with their minds, but no other powers.

I've always had powerful suggestion tactics, if it counts... but it probably comes with all the stuff I do to help other people, and that they're indebted to me. But it's nice to think that...

I may actually have a useful mutation. The entire reason I went into IT is because I have this weird ability to either just stand near malfunctioning electronics and they start working again or to take anything electronic apart, not have a clue what is wrong, put it back together and it works.

I'm not the only one that noticed this mutation. My Mom used to joke about it when I was a kid, to the point where neighbors would bring over their stereos, walkmans, and computers for me to look at. I even have a consulting job once a month (for $150 an hr) where I run the backups at a lawyers office and sit and read a book while they are running. My client requested this because whenever I'm around, the backups go flawlessly, whenever I'm not around, they fail and something else goes wrong where they need the backups.

I have met other people with this ability too. Most of them gravitate to the IT field. People in our office will even request one of us to be around when they are running monthly reports (or something of that nature), just so nothing goes wrong. In our office its called "the IT effect" and means that when someone from IT is around, computer problems mysteriously disappear.

Well, it would explain why radios go staticy whenever i get within five feet. Maybe that's my power? Disrupting radio waves?

"And finding this tiny number of mutations was more difficult than finding an ant's egg in an emperor's rice store."

What?

OT: As someone mentioned, mutations are generally minor at first, but the useful ones are how we evolve.

I want to be a vampire! But without blood as necessary nourishment. And I don't want to lose my libido or taste buns (I'm of course thinking of Moonlight vamps).
