But seriously though. Hi guys and gals! New to the Escapist, introductory blah, blah, blah.

So I was reading a thread on "first loves" recently and I realized that all the posts were of people who are, or at one point had been, in a relationship. So that got me thinking. Does unrequited love count as "love"? Or does love only count if its in the context of some form of relationship? Let me know what you think.

Does loving a pet or family member count? What about love of a food item?

I luuuuurves me some bacon, in a gastronomic sort of fashion, but I can't really say that I have a firm opinion of unrequited love fitting as a 'first love', though; I've never been a victim of it, as either the infatuated or infatuation..

Love, I feel, is all about personal utility. That being said, it's NOT a BAD thing. I make no distinction with love that may or may not be reciprocated.
