Oh I cannot wait to see Batman meeting Nite Owl, or Rorschach.

Or Joker meeting the Comedian.

Or Superman meeting Dr.Manhatten or Lex Luthor meeting Ozymandias.

Or the invitable snobby elitist comments from Alan Moore.

Alright all jokes aside I am curious to see how this is gonna work. And the explination to how did Dr. Manhatten rebooted the New 52 into the Rebirth series.

Alternately, the Watchmen meet the characters they're expies of, so it would go:

Nite Owl (1st and 2nd) meets Blue Beetle (1st and 2nd)

Rorschach meets The Question (or rather, Mr. A)

Dr. Manhattan meets Captain Atom

Ozymandias meets Thunderbolt (Peter Cannon)

Silk Spectre meets Black Canary (Laurel Lance)

And Comedian meets Peacemaker.

Nah, their mums get together and explain their daughters failings in great detail over wine.

I'd actually sorta like to see that.

I do have one question though. What watchman time frame is this set in cause I'm pretty sure some of these characters are dead
I'd think there is Multi-verse factor involved in this.

I had a feeling this will happened sooner or later when it was revealed that Dr Manhatten had created their universe last year.

What a fucking stupid idea.

Johnny beat you to it.

But even though this crossover is tantamount to Heresy....its not as ridiculous as X-men meets Star Trek:

It's much worse. It's tantamount to taking figures from classical literature and writing a dumb comic book story about them.

Which, funnily enough, Alan Moore did. Except this time, the company will try and declare this canon. All so that they can make a few extra bucks off a gimmick. What a fucking disgrace.

Well I am just here to see the specticle of this disgrace. Oh boy I can imagine the memes it might spawn.

Like I wonder what is gonna be the equivilant to Batman fucking Batgirl in The Killing Joke movie or Spock Punching Wolverine with this crossover comic.

I thought I'd heard a scream of rage from the general direction of Alan Moore.

[small]Of course I know at any given moment what direction Alan Moore is in relation to me. Don't you?[/small]

Yeah this is pretty much the comic book equivalent of weekend at bernies
Sometimes I wonder why Watchemen was not under the Vertigo imprint?
Pretty simple answer really, Watchmen came out in September 1986 and was finished by October 1987 and Vertigo was founded in April 1993, it is likely that the existence of Comics like Watchmen and the Horror Comics that DC used publish that didn't really fit in with the DC brand is the reason why Vertigo was created.

In any case, I don't really like the idea Watchmen had it's run it was a good story, just leave it alone it doesn't need prequels, sequels or crossovers.

I'm of the stance that we still literally know nothing about this "crossover" so there's no point in pre-emptive outrage over speculation and assumption. For all we know, it may only include Dr. Manhattan since he's the only one they've ever hinted at being behind this (and the only one powerful enough to mess with reality).

If this is part of DC's therapy to get past its obsession with gritty Watchmen-esque comic writing, I'm all for it. I would gladly see Watchmen get dragged through the mud if it meant DC Comics in general getting much much better.

Can't say I'm surprised; anyone with so much as a single, barely-functional eyeball could have seen this one coming all the way from 2012 and Before Watchmen *shudders*.

I do have to wonder, though, if not understanding at all what made Watchmen special in the first place (its being a single, self-contained piece and not a typical, never-ending soap-opera like every other superhero comic out there) is something that takes actual, willing effort from whoever makes decisions at DC these days.
