Ozymandias is running around too. He currently has Tim Drake prisoner and is keeping an eye on Superman.Kolby Jack said:I'm of the stance that we still literally know nothing about this "crossover" so there's no point in pre-emptive outrage over speculation and assumption. For all we know, it may only include Dr. Manhattan since he's the only one they've ever hinted at being behind this (and the only one powerful enough to mess with reality).
If this is part of DC's therapy to get past its obsession with gritty Watchmen-esque comic writing, I'm all for it. I would gladly see Watchmen get dragged through the mud if it meant DC Comics in general getting much much better.
Watchmen is a masterpiece of Writing and DC having its mainstream universe copy its writing and tone will only make it better in my eyes.Kolby Jack said:I'm of the stance that we still literally know nothing about this "crossover" so there's no point in pre-emptive outrage over speculation and assumption. Are you serious? They already pulled that bullshit with Nu52 and it failed horribly. Why do you think DC is bringing back things people liked into the comics?Samtemdo8 said:Watchmen is a masterpiece of Writing and DC having its mainstream universe copy its writing and tone will only make it better in my eyes.Kolby Jack said:I'm of the stance that we still literally know nothing about this "crossover" so there's no point in pre-emptive outrage over speculation and assumption. Must resist sounding like an Elitist Snob, but things like Watchmen, Vertigo, and DC comics like Kingdom Come are better comic books. Better than anything Marvel churns out in thier movies.Kenbo Slice said:Are you serious? They already pulled that bullshit with Nu52 and it failed horribly. They're "better" because they stand out. If every comic were like them, they wouldn't be considered so great. Deconstructions like Watchmen work because they are self-contained stories. When you try to make the entire DC Universe like that, nobody cares anymore because everything sucks all the time.Samtemdo8 said:Must resist sounding like an Elitist Snob, but things like Watchmen, Vertigo, and DC comics like Kingdom Come are better comic books. You probably feel this way due to the fact that things like Kingdom Come, Sandman and Fables are self-contained stories with a planned beginning, middle and (most importantly) end. They have something to say, they say it and provide the reader with a sense of closure. Contrast that with the continuity-driven print-titles or cinematic universe where the meta-story is never meant to end.Samtemdo8 said:Must resist sounding like an Elitist Snob, but things like Watchmen, Vertigo, and DC comics like Kingdom Come are better comic books. What do the Marvel movies have to do with this? We're talking about DC Comics. Just the comics.Samtemdo8 said:Must resist sounding like an Elitist Snob, but things like Watchmen, Vertigo, and DC comics like Kingdom Come are better comic books. I am just rambling that I wish Superhero movies were more like Watchmen, Vertigo Comics, and DC Comic Books like Kingdom Come.Kenbo Slice said:What do the Marvel movies have to do with this? That's honestly a stupid idea. Certain tones don't work for certain characters. Why do you think everyone hates MoS and BvS? Because Superman is not a dark or gritty character. I don't want to see a dark and gritty Flash movie or Aquaman movie. That shit makes no sense. Yes they can be mature, but dark and gritty does not equal mature. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is actually (for a Marvel film) pretty mature and has it's fair share of gritty moments. But it is not overtly so, there's moments of levity.Samtemdo8 said:I am just rambling that I wish Superhero movies were more like Watchmen, Vertigo Comics, and DC Comic Books like Kingdom Come.Kenbo Slice said:What do the Marvel movies have to do with this? And less like Guardians of the Galaxy and Deadpool.
But I most definately don't want to see Aquaman be turned into a fucking clown like that Brave and the Bold thing, the Aquaman in the Justice League Cartoon was so awesome and badass turning him into that clown in Brave and the Bold just dishonors him in my eyes.Kenbo Slice said:That's honestly a stupid idea.
