This topic is about things you waited for years to happen, or to be able to do, and finally got to do, and the gratification it brings.

I'm making this after I got a new gaming PC yesterday. There was a rush of satisfaction about being able to open Steam and FINALLY installing all the games I'd collected over the last 6 years that I'd been unable to play properly due to not having a good enough rig. This includes titles as old as Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Witcher 2, Kingdoms of Amalur and Dragon Age: Origins. I'm expecting my free time to be filled with nothing but playing these games for the next few months. Just the thought that not only do I finally get to play all the games I heard so much hype about over the years, but also get to turn all the settings to max (I'm a graphics whore) is so gratifying.

Share similar experiences. And yes, you can say "first girlfriend" or "first time I got laid" if you want to be unoriginal.

[sup][sup][sup]Yes, I'm still waiting for those, thanks for reminding.[/sup][/sup][/sup]

Well, it WILL BE Persona 5 when it finally releases in the US, but until then, I got The Last Guardian and I damn-well like it. It took a long time and alot of people scoffed about it never being a thing, but I knew better, because these were the developers that apologized for Shadow of the Colossus not being made on the PS3 (at the time, when that was released a comparatively short time after SOTC) and therefore they didn't make full use of the graphics technology to deliver an even-more-beautiful game. And then, they went and did that with due dedication. I believed, and I was not disappointed. I like this game.

When I can finally get a good PC.

First I had my first laptop that wasn't complete garbage and could run decade old games, then I had my first desktop that could play 5 year old games, and when school's finally over I can get an honest to God gaming PC and ditch my PS4.

Forgot about that. I'm too much of a jaded old git to be excited, but it's definitely in the interested category. I know it's not technically cyberpunk 2020 but I do want to see how well it meshes with with my old vision of it.
Unfortunately I've never found CRPGs to be an adequate replacement for PnP, but the recent Bethesda Fallout's have got pretty close, they even look quite similar on the surface, stats and skill wise, the way armour and damage works etc. I can see the VATS system easily turned into something like a Sandivestan boost with a targeter eye/smartgun combo & various other similarities.
Anyway, that's Bethesda, remains to be seen what CDPR will do with it.

On topic. Battlefleet Gothic coming out and actually being good.

I actually had the same PC thing as OP. I had a fairly crappy laptop for years which was enough to get me into humble bundles but not enough to play them. I didn't have enough money to just buy a rig so I spent about 2 years regularly searching eBay for a deal I could afford until I found a rig going for half the cost of the components (maybe less) which I snapped up. Sure the case is a repurposed filing cabinet draw but it's the most reliable piece of tech I've ever owned, well worth all time spent looking for it.

Close second place goes to moving out of the family home (for uni) years back. I like having my own space which I just didn't in a small house with 4 family members; I didn't even have a bedroom to myself. As dingy as my halls were I felt more comfortable and independent there.

Oh, also Sonny 3 although that's more a case of waiting years for something and that thing getting ruined by iPhone exclusivity.

For this year, it's going to be Persona 5. Or possibly getting a new computer once I have to- my current one is 8 years and showing it, but still kicking.

Before that, probably my favourite Let's Racers actually doing my suggested game for them to race and calling me out by name a few months ago. Sounds unimportant, but the final 15 minute stretch of the race was every bit as frantic and tight as I envisioned it being.

If it counts:

Last years release of Carmageddon: Max Damage. It is the first (proper) Carmageddon made by Stainless since 2. And I was eagerly waiting for that to happen for years. (let's pretend Reincarnation never happend because that was a technical mess)

if everything goes according to plan, I should be getting my first tatoo this years. Which is something that was on my wishlist since I was 16 or so.

I'm just going to come right out and state that I'm eagerly awaiting my return trip to Osea. Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is returning to Strangereal, and I'm excited to see how much has changed since the last games set there.

And as far as things that have already happened, well, finally getting a proper gaming PC put together. Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 R5 motherboard, AMD 9590 Octa-Core CPU running at 4.7GHz, Radeon R9 Fury GPU, Samsung 850 EVO 1TB Solid State Drive, 16GB DDR3 RAM, it's a beast. But as soon as the actual benchmarks for the newer Ryzen CPUs come out, I'm likely to upgrade to one of them. If they're good.

It pretty much how I acted toward Hyper Light Drifter. I waited and waited and get hyped from seeing the snippet of it and it eventually came out!

And yet your avatar is of a blind girl. ;p

But on topic...eh, once, maybe. I don't tend to get too hyped by things now. Sign of me getting older I guess.

Welcome to PC gaming proper.

Also I suggest getting Dragon Age: Origins and the Witcher 2 from GOG.com

GOG's version fo Dragon Age Origins even includes the Tales of Orzammar mission pack. (A promitional DLC from PC Gamer magazine made to showcase modding for Dragon Age Origins) and other promotional content.

So question which game did you benchmark your PC with?

I finally got a PS4 this year since the new BlazBlue came out recently and obviously there's no PC port in sight (even though all of ArcSys' games have sold well on PC since they keep releasing them on Steam, just late as hell for no particular reason)

I need to get around to getting the online subscription down eventually and honestly the lack of an English Dub is seriously rubbing me the wrong way (anime fan heresy I know) it's not even just because my main man Terumi is now several degrees more insane (JP Terumi is great in his own way of course, the victory laugh is godlike, so is MESSENGA!) but I cannot accept all these "new" voices on familiar characters over the course of 3 entire games.
Fuck, they nerfed Messenga too! The things in CPEX that Messenga doesn't steamroll through is in the single digits, now it's projectile immune only in CF? Literally unplayable, albeit it still gives him a chance to beat Lambda and Nu without rolling over and dying for free. I'm playing CPEX on PC for now and I still crack a smile every time Terumi acts like a dick on screen even 500 hours later.

Downs the opponent, walks up to their beaten up ass body, stomps one more time for good measure with a small "annoying little *****!" and walks off screen. Truly the hero we all deserve. If you listen closely you can hear Terumi players praying for the yolo 6C throwout to land. It'll land if you believe hard enough 100% of the time.

Bloodborne is pretty damn good though. I'm doing the DLC before I do the final boss then my first playthrough is summon-free (not by choice, I don't have PS+) which I guess gives me bragging rights.

It was actually built for me. The guy benchmarked it with GTAV. With textures set to Normal, and every other setting turned to maximum, the game averaged 60 fps. I already have the game on console, so it's not a big loss for me to not be able to play it on maximum settings.

I've been a big Rooster Teeth fan for over 10 years now and ever since the first RTX I've wanted to go, but something always made it too hard; generally living too far away from it to afford the air fare on top of the tickets and lodging. Also, I was in the military for the last seven years which certainly made it harder.

Now I'm not in the military and I live 4 hours away from Austin, AND I can afford the tickets, so I bought VIP tickets as soon as I could and I am totally going this year. It should be a fun time.
