Skyward Sword.

Ever since the Wii came out I was waiting for a Zelda game to take advantage of the motion controls to make awesome use of the swordfighting potential! Twilight Princess was a bust, what with the motion controls having the exact result as a button press, but Skyward Sword had the Wii motion plus and was going to do it sooooo well. So I waited and waited, 5 years. And when I finally got it, and played it... it sucked! Worst Zelda game ever made! Don't ever get your hopes up, it's just farther for them to fall.

Went back to chin-length hair yesterday after waiting friggin ages to get it cut.

Spent last year being completely broke due to one thing after another so I had no money to spend on myself for any reason. Now I'm in a much better place money-wise. Had about 3-4 inches off it. Long hair is irritating.
But now my head feels so much lighter. :p

In terms of entertainment...and in order of most likely to least likely:

- Warcraft 4 as an RTS followup to WC3.
- Half-life 2 episode 3 or Half-life 3 (whichever one becomes a reality and continues the story)
- A CCG RPG the likes of Microprose's Magic The Gathering (Shandalar).
- The end of console exclusivity so I can purchase some of those games on Steam/humblebundle (This applies mostly to Nintendo)
- Devs/Publishers embrace the era of MASSIVE settings/cheats built in game. IMO every game with a single player component needs to have options like those found in your typical Civ, Don't Starve, Fifa or Madden Game right out of the box. Let players customize enemy difficulty, weapon power, heroes health, damage, XP gain modifiers, gold modifiers, movement speed, etc etc. Have your dev recommended settings as always but unlock the freedom for players to enjoy games as they please.

Two more seasons before I can add the Game of Thrones box set to my Blu-ray collection. I'm almost done with the newest season.
Speaking of which, Winds of Winter.

I'm willing to bet money on it, that it won't see the light of day before the TV show finishes, but a gentleman never bets on something that is absolutely certain.

Go George, you wonderful, most well paid procrastrinator you!

I was just thinking about this the other day. I remember when you issued that apology that the book wouldn't be coming out in time to beat the correlating season of the show and that was... months ago? There's no way the series gets finished. At this point I've probably forgotten half of what's in the books anyway.

Congrats on getting there. It's a very difficult road to walk, and there's no big flashing sign telling you that everything is OK now, but it's a wonderful feeling to sit down with your accounts and realise that you can actually stand on your own now, with both feet on solid ground.

Brandon Sanderson is waiting in the wings, patiently polishing his pens. I'm more worried that authorship will be diverted to David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, which would be a tragedy.

Well since I just got home from watching Logan, I can add it as well on the list of these things. I didn't even realize how badly I'd wanted to see a superhero film like this: brutal, downbeat, smaller in scale, character focused, personal, intense, bitter, tragic, with no big bad villains, grand final confrontations, savior characters, heroic standoffs, sacrifices or resurrections. And Actual. Fucking. Consequences! It's like an antithesis of everything Marvel movies have become. Just wonderful. The Dark Knight of the 2010's. A film that's not good because it spams references and has characters look exactly like the comics, but because of its thematic depth, character arcs, and merits as a film, as opposed to just an adaptation.

I had a similar experience to you OP when I got my laptop just under 4 years ago now. It has a 765m card. Not too beefy these days (and wasn't super amazing back then, but still decent) and I could finally download and play a huge backlog of PC games. I remember my first experience was playing Third Age Total War. I loved the LOTR mod for Rome Total War which ran fine on my old laptop with just an Intel HD, but could never play Third age as it ran like crap. Installed it, and went straight to a custom battle with full stacked armies on high settings and ran amazing. It was glorious, and in actual 1080p too! Had plenty of other great moments like that since then too, like being able to run recent game when they have actually been decently optimised.

It sadly isn't cutting the mustard with modern AAA games, but seeing as I don't play them anymore and instead focus on my PC backlog and indies I am more than happy with it still. I intend to get a decent specced tower PC next time and it will be the same experience then with all the current gen games to catch up on. (Portability isn't much of an issue any more as I'm not as mobile ferrying between places now. The laptop is permanently plugged into the TV nowadays. Also want pre-built as I don't have the time to learn and build one and would rather pay a bit more for peace of mind that I got a decent set up.)
