I love John Wick, but I have no idea how Leitch is with humor. Reynolds and the writers will be coming up with most of the jokes I suppose. The action in the movie should be something to see though.

That's pretty good news. I'm about 99% sure that the humor was almost all Reynolds in the original, anyways. Having Reynolds for the humor and David Leitch for the action? I was already sold, but I'd be willing to sell myself again.

Sounds good to me. John Wick is a favorite of mine that really showcases that Leitch can direct action just as well as perform it.

Great.
The action scenes in Deadpool were meh at best.
John Wick had some of the best action scenes of this decade, in my opinion.
Good choreography, excellent camera work.
In general, John Wick looked a lot better than Deadpool which had 3x the budget.
Deadpool 2 will definitely be an improvement when it comes to the technical side of things.
All depends on the script now.

Considering the humor that was in John Wick, pretty much always landed well (in my opinion anyway), I'm confident that he knows how to do funny at least admirably well.

Sure there wasn't a LOT of humor in John Wick, but there were some gems in all that action, and every time I saw the movie, the audience laughed with genuine enjoyment. Saw it 3 times in the theater, twice due to there being a fire alarm at our theater, and they had to evacuate us, gave us vouchers to see a free movie later. 3rd time was with a different set of friends.

"I heard you punched my son" "Yes sir I did." "...care to explain why?" "Well sir, he robbed John Wick and stole his car." "............oh." *hangs up phone* I'm sorry but that was just golden. Very subdued humor, compared to Deadpool, but it shows a good grasp of how to deliver comedy in a film. So yeah, I've got no reservations about it.

I am utterly at a loss as to why people were impressed by John Wick.

I didn't hate it or anything, but I barely remember anything about it. Theon Greyjoy killed Neo's dog, then some shooting happened. Possibly some stabbing too.

Hearing people go ga-ga over it feels like being told that, say, The Maze Runner is an amazing must-watch movie.

It was a very simple movie, that was done well. It had good action scenes, good acting by pretty much everyone in it. A tight script, good direction, good visuals, good sound. Basically it was an action movie, done by people who know action movies, and know what makes a good action movie, and it shows.

None of the action scenes were good enough for me to bother remembering them.

I think some of the shooting happened in a nightclub? And Neo jumped over or onto a car at one point? That's all I can recall.

That's fine that you don't like it. Though I do take issue with comparing it to Maze Runner, which is not a well made movie. John Wick is a very well made movie for what it was trying to be. A very no-nonsense action movie. It accomplished that in spades in my opinion, and most peoples opinion. Personal tastes are something different. If you don't like it, you don't like it. I'm not going to try and convince you otherwise :p There are plenty of movies that I will say were well made, that I just don't like for one reason or another. The two things aren't the same.

I see nothing to dislike with this. I'm pretty sure Ryan Reynolds is heavily responsible for what Deadpool work. And John Wick was a great film.

Pretty sure the original Deadpool script read like:
Deadpool is at this place with these people. Ryan improvises all his lines.

Okay, i'll try a cool-headed approach to this: John Wick had two directors. It was also the first feature film they directed, afaik. While Leitch was assigned to Deadpoopl 2, the other guy, Chad Stahelski, is currently working over John Wick: Chapter Two.
So it's possible we're about to see, who was mostly responsible for that success, was it both of them, synergy in work, etc.
I'll stay optimistic and hope for two good flicks with stellar action scenes.

I think JW handled humor(especially dark humor) well. It played it ridiculous premise straight, but with lampshades hanging here and there, yet it didn't went overboard by constantly winking to the audience.

PS. Now that i think about it... may it be that Reylnoyds was okay with Leitch only because he co-directed one movie with someone else before? Not sure if that'd be a good sign.
