Since some were talking about the game in Phoenixmgs' thread on The Pathless, I thought people might be interested to know that critical darling and former PS3 exclusive Journey is coming to PC [https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/product/journey/home], but only on Epic Games new store. No news on exactly when it'll be available or how it'll be priced, but this is good news for anyone who never owned a PS3/4 and wants to see what this whole Journey hubbub is all about.

I'd recommend it though. Aside from being a drop dead gorgeous game, it has some the most unique and memorable multiplayer I've ever experienced. I still remember running into other people and getting getting worried when I lost sight of them, then relieved when I found them. Spending like half an hour just drawing things in the snow together. All without saying a single word.

That's pretty surprising, didn't think Sony would let that happen so casually, maybe there getting a small cut?

Also... fuck having multiple store, I don't like steam but at least there was just a single store for all PC game, I hate the idea that I'll have like 10 of them in a year, every-time a new game come out I'll have to search across all of them to figure out on which platform it is, and most of them will probably run on the computer even if you quit them.

Yeah, at first I thought maybe Journey runs on Unreal Engine or something and that that would be the connection, but nope. All of it Sony money and tech. Like you said, there's probably some deal between Epic and Sony.

Yeah, not really keen on that. Don't like Steam much either, but it does have convenience on its side. GOG gets a pass because its offerings appeal to my old school sensibilities. Uplay and Origin? Ubisoft and EA basically have nothing for me anyway, so whatever, don't care. And now we have Epic and Discord also entering the ring. Things are getting crowded.

Though I do like how the Discord library can serve as a launcher for games on other platforms, like Steam. To my surprise, it also picked up a few emulators I got installed, but not a couple of GOG games. Would be nice if they implemented the ability to manually add games.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Meh, I don't even like having Uplay on my computer and its games are sold on steam. Unless the epic launcher gets something incredible like Blood Borne, it will just be an annoyance for me. An annoyance since they have already managed to pull some releases from steam in a temporary manner.

Kinda forgot it was an exclusive title. It's great that it's going to be available to more people now. I'm not sure how well it will do on there but hopefully there'll be enough who enjoy it.

[small]It's also on PS4 btw, but shhh, nitpicky bear![/small]

I remember in my first playthrough I thought the other character was just an NPC... until at the end credits where it listed the names of every other player whom I met.

Pretty much. It's a nice experience. I still have vivid memories of playing it. And you know, the more the merrier, or somesuch.

[small]Ah, but it also being on PS4 doesn't make my "former PS3 exclusive" statement untrue, but shhh, nitpicky ape![/small]

Showing my age here, but from the thread title I thought they might be remaking the classic Atari 2600 game Journey Escape [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Journey_Escape]...

Really? That's odd. Are you scrolling down the front page far enough? Just below 'Featured & Recommended' is a 'Special Offers' section. Should be a 'browse all' button that'll get you the full list of all currently discounted games.

Also, you want me to do sales too? I mean, I could if enough people want me to, but there's kind of a lot of places to keep track of. Maybe we could try some kind of community sales thread? Seen some of those around other forums.

The final rush towards the ending is one of the more exhilarating memorable moments in any game and the soundtrack heightens every mood in the ways a great soundtrack should. Am easily entranced by musical emotion though, so it could be less effective for people not interested in the magic of the cooperative human audios.

[small]No need to take defense, fellow hominidae fluffling, I didn't intend to imply what you said was incorrect, instead rather to add an extra bit of info onto what was already there, as it's updated with higher framerate and visuals for those who prefer their playthings shinier. ;) Maybe the use of the word "nitpicky" gave the wrong impression, in which case sorry about that, my word pickings are usually inaccurate at best. [sub]This is a weird way of conversing, but it's too late to turn back now![/sub][/small]

[small][sub]No defensiveness, just nitpicking for the sake of it. After all, what good is a PhD in Monkey Business if you can't engage in glorious pedantry? Hurrah for pointless obsessing over minor details.
Alas, it's not helping me make this text any smaller.[/sub][/small]
