I don't, but I haven't played Black or White yet.

Also, <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/index/9-Gaming-Discussion>Gaming Discussion. This topic should go there.

I don't. I think it came close in Gen 4, but I think Gen 5 is doing a good job creating new momentum. So far, it's my favorite generation.

(Clever title, by the way.)

Also, inb4 "AARGH THERE SHOULD ONLY BE 150 POKEMANS."

No, I think it's atleast just as great as before, if not improved with each generation =D

Not at all. It still sells amazingly well and plays better than most games out there that are on their 5th generation. Not to mention that the meta-game is the best of its kind (probably the best of any kind).

A game only "jumps the shark" if it continues to be made while no one buys it or enjoys it. People will always enjoy PokƩmon, even if the rest of the world stops, I will always enjoy it.

No. Black/White are the best games since Gold/Silver. Seriously, they're really good.

Yeah a bit. I haven't played Black or White and I'm probably not going to, but when I was playing Soul Silver, I noticed some of the new moves (same in Diamond too come to think of it), and some of them are freaking retarded.

I stopped caring about Pokemon after the third generation (Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald and FireRed/LeafGreen). The remakes of the originals (FireRed/LeafGreen) with the original set of Pokemon were my favourites.

People need to look up what Jumping the Shark actually means.

No, it hasn't. I actually wish they would change more things, like those ugly fucking sprites that keep getting pixelated every time the camera decides to move.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

I also think this generation has the best story with the antagonists as well.

No, it's what they do and they do it well. Maybe we'll even see some innovation in 5 or so games!

I think it did in the Third Generation (Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald) to be perfectly honest. Thats not to say I havent enjoyed pokemon games since then or before then, or that I hold any above the others (I only like gold so much cause it was the first time I ever had my killer team of Vaporeon Typhlosion, Amphorus, Usaring/Tauros (i switched depending on the match), Dragonite, and Venasaur).

But Gen V has been amazing so far, and has probably done the most the reinvent the series since Gen I was introduced.

Yes, I've seen the IGN article, I dont need to see it again. Its very hard to debate that Gen V hasnt done the most for the series since the original Red/Green/Blue/Yellow (Oh yeah, I just nerded this up to a whole new level). Though I do give other generations their credit for what they added to the series.

I'm not sure. I'm conflicted on Black and White. While I love some of the new typings, it really looks like they are running out of design ideas. I hate around half of the new pokemon designs. And the names are horrible. HORRIBLE.

And I know criticizing pokemon storylines is low, but this story is easily my least favorite. Its trying so hard to be deep and though-provoking, but all it comes off as is preachy and dumb. "We want to be friends with pokemon!" I hate it.

But what do I know? Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald were my favorites in the series. And I've still logged twenty hours into the game in four days, so its doing something right.

The names aren't as good because they changed translation groups from the previous games.

I know. Doesn't make it any more forgivable though. I'm not going to use a trash bag named Trubbish. I refuse too.

EDIT: Oka, nevermind. I found it. Well, actually had a friend from IM link it to me, since she favorited it. Point is, I have it now.

but it's so strangely cute till it evolves. The worst names were probably Sawk, Throh, and roggenrola. But we do get some awesome names like chandelure, darumaka, zebstrika, and genesect
